GILLES SALOME

Post by Jacques PERMAL »

According to last release of KNDB rating GILLES SALOME is classified 32nd player of the NETHERLANDS.
GILLES SALOME played dutch championship in the past. It means that he is very strong.
He was born in FRANCE. He's been living in the NETHERLANDS since a lot of years.
Perhaps a player could post a picture of him here and more information about him.

Thanks a lot

Hello Jacques,

Gil is living in Westerhaar at the moment. He is member of our club "DEZ Witte van Moort" that is playing in the highest class in Holland competition.
He is very busy with his work and study at the moment. So he has not much time to play.

Greetings
Bart Stegeman

Salomé - Wiersma

Post by Kosmos »

Salomé - Wiersma 2-0 27-11-1993 2.45/2.53

1.34-29 19-23 2.40-34 14-19 3.45-40 10-14 4.32-28 23x32 5.37x28 17-21 6.38-32 21-26 7.41-37 5-10 8.43-38 11-17 9.49-43 17-21 10.47-41 6-11

Gilles now takes a courageous centre-attack.

11.28-23 19x28 12.32x23 11-17 13.35-30 7-11 14.31-27 21x32 15.37x28 17-21 16.30-24 11-17 17.41-37 18-22 18.40-35 21-27 19.34-30 13-19 20.24x13 9x18

White does not play the logical 37-31x31 so black occupies square 36 in absence of a piece on 47. The opposition (is dit wel goed Engels?) 36/46 is awkward for white.
Changing 21.37-31 26x37 22.42x31 is troubled by 16-21! and the logical 23.31-26 is answered by 27-32 20-24 and white keeps a lot of bad pieces at the edge of the board. This explains 30-24.

21.30-24 27-31! 22.36x27 22x31 23.35-30 20-25 24.37-32 25x34 25.39x30 31-36 26.30-25 18-22 27.44-39 16-21 28.39-34 22-27 29.43-39 3- 9 30.50-45 8-13 31.23-19 4x23 32.29x 7 1x12 33.45-40 10-14 34.40-35 12-18 35.34-30 17-22 36.28x17 21x12 37.32x21 26x17 38.33-29

I remember that Sijbrands published this game in the Volkskrant (famous dutch newspaper) and that because of the opposition 36/46 the game should be better for the blacks. But as the title of the article was called, the loss of Wiersma was mysterious.
Maybe Wiersma should have played 17-22 at this moment. After 39-33 (not possible is 38-32? because of 13-19 22-27 B+) 22-28x27 38-33 14-19 33-28 9-14 the position looks much beter for black.

38... 18-22 39.39-33 14-19 40.38-32 22-27 41.32x21 17x26 42.33-28

42... 12-17?

A mistake. Much better is 9-14! Now Salomé surprises his big opponent with a pseudo-sacrifice.

43.28-22!! 17x28 44.29-23 9-14 45.23x32 26-31 46.32-28

46... 31-37?

More defence after 46... 2-8 47.42-37! 31x42 48.48x37 8-12 (36-41? 24-20 W+1) 49.37-32 12-17 50.32-27 4-10! the endgame still brings a draw.

47.42x31 36x27 48.46-41 2- 8 49.41-36 8-12 50.48-43 12-17?

Off course 12-18 should be played.

51.28-23 19x28 52.24-20 15x24 53.30x 8 28-33 54. 8- 3 33-39 55. 3x 5 39x48 56.25-20 48-25 57.20-15 25-48 58. 5-28 48-26 59.35-30 26-48 60.30-25 48-26 61.28-32 26-17 62.36-31 17-26 63.31-27 26-17 64.32-14 17-39 65.27-21 39-11 66.21-16 11-39 67.14-19 39-17 68.19-32 17-33 69.25-20 4- 9 70.32-14 9-13 71.14-19

Black surrenders.

Now we must find a way to resize it, because it's too large to bring it here. It will make all text unpleasant to read. Maybe Steenslag or A. Presman can help?

(Use this link first)"

Image
Klik er op en je ziet de door mij verkleinde versie.
<hr>
You can shrink pictures with "paint"- every windows-user has it installed by default. (open the picturefile and choose image-->stretch/tilt(?)).
Imageshack however has a nice option: thumbnails. Just after you upload your picture, you are presented a number of possibilities. "Hotlink a clickable thumbnail on a forum or message board! (Use this link first)"
is one of them.
