Draw+ compositions

Post by TAILLE »

Hi,

Seeing the coming world championship and seeing that the draw+ rule which will be applied, it is a good opportunity for you to verify your ability to solve nulle+ problems.

Hereafter are two compositions with only 4 pieces on the board!

Diag 1

White to move : draw+

The problem is not simply to find the good sequence but also to prove that the first move is unique in order to reach the draw+

Diag 2

White to move : draw+

This last diag seems to me more difficult than the first one; be aware to find the best black defense!

Hi,

Obviously you are not very interested by draw+ compositions.

Last try with with an example of draw+ in practise.

Let's take the game Ivanov - Chizhov played in the first round of the championship final.
Position after 55.43-38

Both players know perfectly that a win is not possible. They continue to play only to see if black can reach a draw+

According to Damy database the theorical result here is a draw+ for black side but from there, Damy detects 5 errors made by the players:
55...5-10? (55...16-21 draw+) 56.38-32 10-14 57.32-27? (57.33-28 draw=) 14-19? (57...8-21 draw+) 58.33-28 8-3 59.45-40 3-8 60.40-34? (60.27-22 or 40-35 draw=) 8-21 61.27-22 21-8? (21-26 or 21-43 or 21-3 draw+) and the final result was draw=

Even the strongest players are not familiar with draw+ endgame are they?

Gerard, your posts deserve more attention than they get. I promise to study your examples, although it will take some time.
