Post by Krzychumag »

Hi Michel.

I have a cordial request to you. Whether he can confirm or well I generated the 7-piece endgame database.

File drd0 has 83 825 of files and is filling 122 GB - bytes: 131 083 556 509

File drd2 has 83 825 of files and is filling 14.1 GB - bytes: 15 192 017 455

File dtw has 139 of files and is filling 46,0 GB - bytes: 49 475 781 418

There numbers seem correct to me.

If you want, you can remove the drd0 directory. It is used for temporary files (uncompressed databases) and you only need them if you want to generate the 8 pieces endings as well.

dtw is for 6 pieces i guess?

Hi Michel - thanks for the reply.

That is I understand Michel that file drd0 is in the program not needed. Please write or the dtw file is in the program needed, whether also to dismiss him or to leave him in the program. I mean it or what I am using 7-piece endgame database, whether this dtw file is needed in the program. If you can please write how many occupy 8-piece endgame database.

The DTW directory containst the databases with 'Distance To Win'. This enables dragon to:
- tell you that it will win in for example 35 moves
- find the win in the shortest possible way

They won't give much strength improvement, and it your choice if you want to make/keep them
