Re: Maximus vs. Schwarzman draughts match
The private matches Maximus-Flits were more or less even IIRC, and Valneris-Flits in 2003 was also an even outcome. So the question is how much hardware improvement the last 9 years have given. It's just too bad that the 16Gb machine cannot be utilized fully with "only" 6 pc databases. Here the 8 pc database would have been deadly for any human. Nevertheless, I still predict a small win for Maximus (or "I will get my revenge, either in this life or the next").BertTuyt wrote:I go for a draw

I apologize that ask, it or was can on subject more information this game. What time for the party and whether it will be possible to see a match online.
Re: Maximus vs. Schwarzman draughts match
Hi,
Do somebody know what will be the computer configuration for this match?
Do we know what kind a financial arrangement was made in order for Alexander Schwarzman to accept such match? I guess it is not that motivating for Schwarzman because he has not very much to gain in this difficult confrontation.

Ed/Gerard, i have seen your posts, but not yet a prediction from your side.
I'm very interested in your 5 cents as well.
As I have stated before I guess it is /will be a draw.
I would like to add, that with the recent hardware (like dual socket 8-core Xeon Ivy Bridge CPU's, 16 memory slots with 8GByte each, a 512 GByte SSD for fast DB access) + a 64bit KingsRow 64bit version with 8P DB's , then my prediction would be a win for the computer.

Re: Maximus vs. Schwarzman draughts match
My guess is that Maximus will win. Maximus will be adequately powered with the 6-piece database. The larger databases are great for indicating a definitive win or draw result, but with Kingsrow at least, they don't usually have much effect on the outcome in match games.

Re: Maximus vs. Schwarzman draughts match
Hi,
My problem is that I am rather unable to evaluate the maximus strategy power. My vote goes to Alexander Sxhwarzman for three reasons:
1) first of all if Alexander Schwarzman accepted this match, that means that he first studied thorougly how a computer plays. If I imagine that he trained himself against a program like Kingsrow then I hardly imagine Alexander Schwarzman can lose.
2) The number of games is very small so Alexander Schwarzman will not get tired. In addition he will be able to prepare some opening game that will give him a long strategy game that could be very difficult to evaluate by the computer.
In any case it is a very interesting event!
3) Alexander Schwarzman is of course very strong to detect a combinaison and if he is in good form I doubt he could make a tactical error against a opponent known as very strong in that area.

This way I am thinking why he is playing from Maximus, rather than with other program.
