<P><B>11e Internationale Open Dam Toernooi</B></P><P><B>in SALOU</B></P><P><B>11 mei - 19 mei 2008</B></P><P></P><P></P><P>Wij nodigen u uit deel te nemen aan het 11e internationale open damtoernooi in Salou, dat zal worden gespeeld van zondag 11 mei tot en met maandag 19 mei 2008.</P><P></P><P>Het toernooi wordt gespeeld volgens het Zwitsers systeem in 9 ronden. Het complete programma treft u onderstaand aan. Evenals andere jaren verwachten we, dat het toernooi weer zal uitgroeien tot een prachtig evenement. Het enorme enthousiasme van de deelnemers en meereizenden in de afgelopen jaren overtuigt ons ervan, dat we ook in 2008 een aangename tijd in Salou hebben vanwege de combinatie van een gezellige vakantie vlakbij het strand (50m), een goede hotelaccommodatie en meestal een spectaculair damtoernooi, waarin zowel topspelers als zwakkere spelers acteren. Gantwarg, Valneris, Thijssen en Vigman hebben zich reeds aangemeld. Verder hopen we op deelname van Alexander Presman, Michael Korchov en vele andere toppers. Ook hopen we weer een aantal sterke dames in Salou te mogen verwelkomen. Via de website <U><FONT COLOR="#0000ff">http://www.salou-open.nl</FONT></U> houden we u van de ontwikkelingen op de hoogte.</P><P>Het strijdtoneel is voor de zesde keer hotel Cala Font in Salou.</P><P></P><P>Deelname aan het toernooi kost € 55,--. De geldprijzen ( in aantal en hoogte) hangen af van het aantal deelnemers. De eerste prijs bedraagt tenminste € 600,--. Andere prijzen zijn er voor de beste spelers in het eindklassement, de beste vrouw, de beste senior (vanaf 55 jaar), de beste junior (bij voldoende deelname), de mooiste combinatie of beste partij en een “verrassingsprijs” voor één van de zwakkere spelers.</P><P></P><P>Vanuit Nederland bieden wij u voor € 410,-- een compleet arrangement aan, bestaande uit de busreis (vanuit bijna 50 opstapplaatsen) van Nederland naar Salou, volpension in een drie-sterren hotel en deelname aan het toernooi. Voor personen, die niet deelnemen aan het toernooi bedraagt de prijs € 375,--. De hotel-accommodatie is gebaseerd op tweepersoons kamers. Toeslag voor eenpersoonskamers bedraagt € 115,-- (10 dagen).</P><P>Degenen, die aan één van de eerdere toernooien in Salou hebben deelgenomen ontvangen een korting van 5% op de totale reissom (geldt niet voor uitsluitend deelname aan het toernooi en ook niet voor de verzekeringen).</P><P></P><P>Regelt u zelf uw reis naar Spanje (bijvoorbeeld per vliegtuig of per auto) dan bedragen de kosten € 290,-- voor het hotel (volpension) en deelname aan het toernooi; zonder toernooideelname € 255,--. Ook hier geldt de korting van 5% voor vaste deelnemers.</P><P>Voor degenen, die per vliegtuig reizen organiseren we op zaterdag 10 mei transfers van de vliegvelden van Barcelona en Reus naar Salou en op dinsdag 20 mei van Salou naar Barcelona en Reus. De kosten voor beide transfers (gezamenlijk) bedragen voor Barcelona € 40,-- en voor Reus € 20,--.</P><P></P><P>Indien u dit wenst, kunnen wij voor u een reis- en/of annuleringsverzekering verzorgen. Geef dit door bij uw aanmelding.</P><P></P><P>In verband met de reserveringen van bus en hotel verzoeken wij u zich zo spoedig mogelijk aan te melden. Salou-2008 will Be a great event, that’s for sure. Before sending the invitations world wide, there were already 34 people, who told me to participate in 2008. And now, less than two months’ later on the list of participants are 127 names from 19 different countries. If you study the ratings, you will conclude, that everybody will find opponents of his/hers one strength, which I like very much. We have 7 GMI’s, 4 MI’s and 12 MF’s; for people who go for a title, this is very good. For people who just want to have a good time Salou is always an interesting place during the tournament.

Today Harm Wiersma told me, that he will come to Salou too.

At the last days of the tournament the CD from FMJD will have a board meeting, that will take place in Salou!

When the maximum of 130 participants is reached, it is necessary to install a waiting list. I’m very sorry for the people who are too late with their registration, but we can’t handle more players in the room where we play.

I wish you stay healthy and I hope to meet all of you in Salou.

Less than 7 weeks before the tournament the list of participants has almost reached the maximum of 130 players. We regret that Mr. Alexander Mogilyanskiy could not make it to come to Salou this year. Maybe next time. New are two players from Azerbaijan and a strong player from Cameroon, Luc Baya.

(Temporarily) registration stop for SALOU-2008

The maximum number of 130 participants for Salou-2008 has been reached. From now we have a registration stop for 2 weeks. If people want to participate this year they have to contact Peter Pippel (peter@salou-open.nl ). He will make a waiting list and decide at April the 27th if people from the waiting list can participate. This is just possible if other people cancel for the tournament. Of course, you can have a good holiday in Salou, but for the moment we can’t guarantee participation in this year’s tournament.
The new participation list contains 135 names, but three will not participate. We have 132 players (105 men and 27 women) from 18 different countries. 25 persons have a title: 9 international grandmasters, 5 international masters and 11 Federation Masters. 103 persons have a rating, 29 persons don’t have a rating yet. The average rating of the 103 is 2070. The used ratings are from the ratinglist, that has been published at April the 1st . This list will be used during our tournament.
In less than 4 weeks 130 persons will have a great tournament and 60 persons are in Salou just for fine holidays.
