I would also like to give my 5 cents.

For me (without any doubt) Kingsrow is the best program.
At least i have played several 158-games matches against Kingsrow to have some background facts and figures.

The Dark Horse for me is Damy, as Gerard so far did not publish 158-games results against programs like Truus/Flits/Kingsrow (guess Gerard has Kingsrow).
So my educated guess would be that Damy is second.

Third most likely Damage and/or Maximus.
My last match against Kingsrow was in April 2010 (if I remember well) with the same program which won the NK title later that year.

This match result was:
Kingsrow vs. Damage: 24 wins, 4 losses, 130 draws, 0 unknowns.

Whereas Maximus :
Maximus 0.88 vs Kingsrow 1.51 2 wins, 38 losses, 118 draws (39%)

Maybe the KingsRow version Jan-Jaap played against was somewhat stronger, so I would say based on statistics, at least Damage and Maximus are very close......

Hereafter things become tricky for me.

But these programs prove that one need to make use of the new developments like 64-Bit Windows, large memory, multiple cores, .....
It is somewhere a pity that many programmers (but i could be wrong), still participate with programs (at least thats my wild guess), which are mainly based on pre-2000 code.
For me programs like Kingsrow, Damy, Maximus who raise the bar, is at least a challenge to continue with Damage improvements.

As some know, i have taken a Damage sabbatical this year, to focus on a new GUI and a Horizon Engine which I will share with the community for free.
In 2012, I will refocus on Damage improvements again...

Warmly I thank for the reply BertTuyt. And what you are thinking about the program Flits. I still have such a question to you BertTuyt - why programmers aren't making their programs available to people.

Flits is at least not as strong as Damage.
So maybe 4th (more or less equal with Maximus, but JJ knows better).
Think Flits is Maximus angstgegner.

At least the best program in the world Kingsrow is available for everyone.
I will make a somewhat weaker program available for all (with a nice GUI).
My own program I use to play tournaments, also as a creative challenge, and I just don't want to sell it .....

Programs play really good these days, so for the average player, there are several interesting downloads for free such as Dam and Dragon , and Damage/Horizon.

But If you want to have world-champion level (or most likely beyond), I really recommend Kingsrow.
Absolutely great value for money, and.... Ed is just a nice guy

Is Damage/Horizon al beschikbaar ?

I have a beta available on my web page (Damage GUI and Horizon Engine), tested by several people, who helped in finding several bugs whichIi really need to resolve.
The current download only works in a Windows 64-bit environment, and you need to have somewhat around 2 GigaByte Memory (which these days is not something really special).
If you also want tot test , just drop me a line at h.tuyt AT chello.nl, and I will forward the download link....

I have a beta version on the internet with the Damage 2011 GUI, and the Horizon Engine ( Damage Search but Horizon Evaluation).
