Invitation for Thailand Open 2011
Sun, sea, beach, nature, culture, friendly people, nice food, nice nightlife, draughts, … is there a better combination? Playing draughts in the morning, swimming in the sea or sitting on an elephant in the afternoon. In the evening, if you like, there are many open bars.
In June 2011 there will be an international draughts tournament in Jomtien, a nice tourist village just at the beach. Nine rounds in nine days according to the Swiss System and the rules of the FMJD. We will play eight games in the morning and one game in the afternoon. There will be enough time to take part on (of course fully voluntary) excursions, or to play rapid (‘blitz’) games, or to play a small tournament ‘Thai draughts’ with the locals. The entrance fee of the participation is 50 euro. If you want to stay in the same hotel as the tournament, the costs are app. 145 euro for 9 nights with breakfast, based on a shared room. The transfer Bangkok-Jomtien is about 7 euro per person with the minibus. Excursions are, of course, not included in the price. We recommend you to spend more days in the nice country of Thailand. Come and join the 7th International Draughts Tournament in Jomtien (‘Thailand Open’) 3-12 June 2011 in the Jomtien Garden Hotel, 31/71 Moo 12, Nongprue, Banglamoung, Chonburi 20260, THAILAND.

THAILAND OPEN 2011 (3-12 JUNE)+Round Trip Vietnam 13-25 June

Post by Andrew Tjon A Ong »

Tour Vietnam!

Soon, the new edition of the Thailand Open (3-12 June) will begin.
After the tournament fortunately we have a wonderful program. It's become a wonderful journey that I've done over months, for the most ideal Travel Plan. There is so much fun to see and do, but the country is so gigantic. You have quickly tend to travel quite full plan. but my experience is that when you're just the trip for the schedule to get and you do not really enjoy the moment, because it is too tiring. I had this year for the first time special requests from different people for the tour. Some would only go if the trip would go to China, others wanted to Burma, others to the beaches of Southern Thailand others to Vietnam. I obviously can not please everyone. China I found it a little bit too expensive compared to Laos last year. A single ticket costs almost 250 euros including taxes and charges (BKK-Beijing). When we two single fares and a domestic flight (eg Beijing-Shanghai) during the tour then you have already lost 650 euros and have only the tickets and then the price of the tour is still on. So there I must first determine what the people around them for the trip to China about this, and whether this would be feasible.

The Vietnam Voyage, for that matter at the level of the Laos Travel. However, I have many things including done during the tour Laos apart and settled locally were to be as visa costs Vietnam (65 euros), meals while traveling (about 7 lunches and 2 dinners), a comprehensive tour package and there are Of course there are two international flights. Because of these things already in advance group booking, we could also get an attractive discount.

The trip is very well balanced and will introduce you to the best of Vietnam and something for everyone: the culture (history of war), natural (Mekong Delta) and the beautiful beaches (Mui Ne and Nha Trang). The price is 835 euros per person. 11 day trip to beautiful Vietnam.

11-day tour Vietnam!

1 Day> Saigon 6.13.2011
Immediately after the tournament the day we leave for Vietnam. We take the morning flight Bangkok-Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and after a half hour flight over to the Tan Son Nhat international airport in Saigon. Here is the guide waiting for us to transfer to the hotel. You have the opportunity to sample the atmosphere of this bustling metropolis of nearly eight million inhabitants, for example around Dhong Khoi Street and the Ben Thanh market.
In the evening you will be offered an elegant Bonsai Dinner Cruise on the Saigon River, with singing, dancing and buffet dinner.

Day 2> Saigon 6.24.2011
Your guide will take you on this day two districts of Ho Chi Minh City: Saigon and Cho Lon (China Town). You'll be surprised at the beauty of this temple, the whole is reminiscent of a religious wonderland. From twelve hours, you miss an opportunity to behold. After lunch an impressive excursion to the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels, from which the Viet Cong, the Americans fought. The tunnels were during the war, part of an ingenious network of 300 km. tunnels hospitals, command centers and weapons factories connected to each other. If the position of the groundwater levels were allowed dug, often connected by doors that were protected by booby traps. You have the opportunity to own some one hundred meters through the tunnels to crawl ...

That's a good question, Juri!

But I think I have a good answer.

Go to http://toernooibase.kndb.nl/
Then on the left side of the page: buitenland
Then again on the left side: Thailand Open Jomtien 2011
Then on the left side: Algemeen.
Click, if necessary, on the British flag.
You see all the results, the standings, the pairings.

Thanks for the answer!
Its a big surprise that players from Thailand play not bad!
Also from Japan can move something. At least he has natural feeling where to develop piecese, I think its from GO! the same like in China. They never play draughts before, but HAD natural feelings where to move pieces!
And chinese players - from which Province in CHina they are?

I think, this tournament can help to develop draughts in Asia!
Good luck for organisators in Future too!

Hi Juri,
Thank you for your good wishes!
We were very glad with the first Thai draughtsplayer in Thailand Open. His level of play was good. He was several times champion of Thailand on the Thai (small) board.
The Players of China came from the provinces Hubei and Tianjin.
The players of Hubei had several years training of Alexey Tsjizjov. When Tsjizjov is in China he gives the pupils 6 days a week training. Two hours in the morning and then three hours in the afternoon. So when Tsjizjov stays for four weeks the pupils get 30 hours of intensive draughtstraining per week. So maybe after a few years we can expect a Chinese winner of Thailand Open!
One of the main goals of Thailand Open is to help the development of draughts in Asia. Now we have good contacts in the most Asian countries and we hope these contacts will result in a good development of draughts in Asia and among others Thailand Open and the FMJD can benefit of this development.

Thailand is not known for its children centered attractions. Please suggest me how we can enjoy Thailand trip with our children?
