Comments of 4th round

This evening I had FAUSTIN EKOLLO on the phone. He was very enjoyed about his great match against the GMI. he had a voice filled with emotion.
Before the match, he said to his friends of DAMIER NICOIS that he would sit in face of TCHIZOV with desire to win !!!

Every Players of France know that FAUSTIN has a particulary game. He move almost pieces on the right !!! Very disconcerting for opponents.

FAUSTIN will send me all oh his games tomorrow. PATRICK KOPP will online that for us.

A. TCHIZOV congratulated FAUSTIN at end of the game.

Arnaud CORDIER should have won !!! Just before he moved the bad piece with consequency draw, TCHIZOV saw a combination for ARNAUD !!! He was alone. Neither JM NDJOFANG Nor BALIAKINE who were near saw it !!!

Tomorrow this game will be onlined by PATRICK KOPP.

BALIAKINE against VALNERIS : Not easy to be understood by beginners !!

L. SEKONGO easily won with a nice combination - I hope we will see that tomorrow - against A. TETY

But the new leader is K. THIJSSEN. He wants to win. you can see that from his eyes according FAUSTIN !! THEO was the victim today !!

Vainqueur Cannes 2004 Thissen

5e ronde

Baljakin /Thissen 1-1

Would be very good for our sport Jacques, some alternation in Worldchampions.
I hope in 2005 we get a Dutch Worldchampion, later maybe a French worldchampion (Cordier? Nicault?), after that an African worldchampion, later again a Russian or Haïtian or Mongolian.
Much better than Russian monopoly!!

Cannes, rounds 5, 6 and 7

thursday 12th , 2 rounds, 5th and 6th

Friday 13th : last round.

Tomrrow a simultaneous will take place with A. TCHIZOV at 2:30 P.M. It will replace FRANCE-AFRICA contest. FRANCE-AFRICA can't be played because of visas problems met by some africans.

But let's talk about the tournament.

First 5th round

This round was expected because GMI had announced that they couldn't want easy REMISE (REMISE DE SALON in French language)

Schwarzman / Vaneris ou Baliakine/ Thijssen were announced as hot struggles. And they were ! We could regret the REMISES because We saw players very commited.
concerning unbalanced fight, Evreyone were wondering how TCHIZOV went toeat Prezvoniack . Actually, Tchizov, very disappointed about his REMISE from F. EKOLLO, slaughtered Prezvoniak in a difficult variant classic style .
Finally, accrding to his good results from GMI last days everyone could guess a large victory of A. CORDIER from G. MOSTOVOY. But It was REMISE and A. CORDIER lost a precious piont for the final standing.

6th round was also expected because 2 players were leaders: Thijssen and Schwarzman. They were only 1 pt ahead of a pace of 4 others :Tchizov, Baljakin, Ndjofang and Valneris. A.Cordier and Theo Diisktra were lied in ambush with 2 pts from the leaders. There were 2 beautiful confrontations: Ndjofang miss victory against Scharzman in a very complicate middle-game though he did the most difficult : Remise because of disconcerting options of Schwarzman.
BALIAKYN/ Cordier was a solid confrontation too. It was a very difficult contest. BALYAKIN had advantage. But CORDIER's REMISE was deserved. As is he concerned, against Tchizov, Thijssen decided to play an easy game and control the russian. Obvious because he was the leader.
VALNERIS took advantage of these REMISES. He went to beat T. DIJKSTRA and joined the leaders !!

Last round was expected as unsettled : Top of leaderboard a threesome with 9 points, ahead of foursome with 8 pts. Impossible to guess future winner !

Between Valneris and Thijssen, despite an real advantage , VALNERIS forcing ended by remise : Thijssen has been scared stiff.
Scharzman et Tchizov did remise in a struggle for the center-control, None of them didn't want to lose territory
Baljakin/ Ndjofang : Ndjofang withdrew because of plane concerns. Cordier had a victory from Chr. Fiol, finishing in group of tied 2nd alongside Tchizov et Schwarzman.
Doumesh Vitalia has beaten Pellat and claimed 1st seat of women. Last year there were more women ( BALYAKINA, CHUB....) than this year.

Winner is THIJSSEN.

What a beautiful tournament !!

After CANNES international tournament there was simultaneous games of A. TCHIZOV (still in ...CANNES) instead of FRANCE-AFRIQUE contest.

He had 32 opponents.

3 succeeded to draw : CLAUDE SRAMITO (NICE), JEAN-PAUL PELLAT (MONTELLIMAR) and......FAUSTIN EKOLLO again !!!!!!!!!!

Bravo FAUSTIN !!!

Some players like GEORGES MOSTOVOY (PARIS), KOKOLLO (NICE) could have drawn. But they made mistakes in end of games. But it was TCHIZOV !!

One expected to win : RICHARD PRZEVOZNIAK. But he lost.

A. TCHIZOV is A. TCHIZOV !!

Soon game of F. EKOLLO will be onlined by PATRICK KOPP as soon as FAUSTIN send me his game !!

Hello Jacques,

yes, I am a dutch player, but normally don't visit this topic. But I had a question from a Dutch player who lives in Australia if the games were on site, so I thought I ask you.... Thanks for the action, and I'll keep a close watch on this topic.

Mark.
