As you can see, there are only REMISES between the best ( LEMMENS, SCHALLEY, MICHIELS, DE MEULENAERE, VANDEBERG)in this CHAMPIONNAT DE BELGIQUE 2004.

almost same noting about DRAGUIGNAN and CANNES tournaments.
In DRAGUIGNAN we saw an only victory in best's case.
In CANNES only a victory too : K. THIJSSEN-J.M NDJOFANG 2-0

I said that because of that, there is a big debate about "DELFT proposal" in NETHERLANDS.

Without changing rules of our game, what can we do in order to reduce number of draws ?

Please HANCO tell us what majority of NETHERLANDS players think about it.

I don't know what the majority of draughtsplayers in The Netherlands is thinking about this Jacques. There is no research about it.
Dieter van Gortel from Geleen set up an inquiry amongst the top 199 from the KNDB-ratinglist.
The great majority of them was against the "Delft proposal".
See:
http://draughts.nl/delft/uitslag.php

Another thing is that all these Belgian topplayers of course will be slaughtered by real Worldtopplayers like Alexander Georgiev, Kees Thijssen, Alexander Schwarzman, Alexej Tsjizjov, Ton Sijbrands, Harm Wiersma, Gérard Jansen, Ron Heusdens, Rob Clerc and Guntis Valneris.
So, I think it's not a good attitude that everytime when in some tournament there are a lot of draws between the top of that tournament, one starts to cry and weep that it is so difficult to win these days!

It is right that all players are more and more prepared for competitions.

We usually train with high level software and we can analyse games of

our opponents thanks to INTERNET.

Each knows other !!

Last minute : R. SCHALLEY decided I was wrong : he won M. DE

MEULENAERE !!! and took the lead.

Hello Jacques,
My favourite is Ronald Schalley.
In the Worldchampionship in Moscow 2001 Ronald finished last with 4 points out of 16 games, he lost 12 times, but he made draws with Guetmanski, Gantwarg, Kouogueu and Erdenebileg.
Another favourite is Marc de Meulenaere, but he disappointed me very much.

Hello Hanco,

Have you seen the combination of RONALD SCHALLEY against PHILIPPE LERUTH (7th round) ? Beautiful to be viewed by beginners who want to perform themselves !!

I met MARC DE MEULENAERE in CANNES last year. He told me that there are not a lot of competitions in his country.
Others players from BELGIUM said same thing when I saw them in LILLE (Near BELGIUM) during the french championship. And they said that some top players don't like to lose !!!!

I hope that BERNARD LEMMENS will take the lead definitively !!

Tomorrow :

Y. VANDEBERG - B. LEMMENS

R. SCHALLEY - S. MICHIELS

Two big contests !!!!

Last round : RONALD SCHALLEY won S. MICHIELS and Y. VANDEBERG drew BERNARD LEMMENS.

A play-off is necessary to determine the winner of 2004 championship : BERNARD LEMMENS or RONALD SCHALLEY ?
