I found that from 10th to 15th of February there is a tournament again in Cannes, and on February 7th and 8th there is one in Draguignan.
Do you have (links to) more information?

Patrick KOPP, a player of French Alpine has edited a good site...where you can read news about CANNES 2004.

Will you play this tournament, Hanco ?

This year I played and drew against dutch player Dirk Van Schaik.

I lost against Theo Dijkstra.

I made a drew against Ukrainian Ivan Antonenko. But Yuri Anikeiev won me after 4h1/2 of games.

I hope I will have the opportunity to play Cannes, but I fear it is impossible.

Last year, I trained a lot with DAM2.2. So I was in good condition.
But I stopped playing a lot since Cannes 2003.

I am not in good condition now. I lost my two first games in Normandy championship yesterday !!!

Hello Hanco,

Bruno Féret is the 2002-2003 vice-champion of Normandy. he finished tie-first with Laurent Nicault. A Play-off was necessary to dertermine the winner.
L. Nicault won the third game (10 minutes per player) and became champion last year.

his nickname is DONALD and has ever won a lot of tournaments.

1) From February Monday 9th to Friday 13th is scheduled 17th international open of CANNES. (For 1st category)

Mon 9 : Openning ceremony at 13 h 30 . 15 h 00 / 1st round

Tue 10 : 9 h 00 / Round 2 15 h 00 / Round 3

Wed 11 : 15 h 00 / Round 4

Thu 12 : 9 h 00 / Round 5. 15 h 00 / Round 6

Fri 13 : 9 h 00 / Round 7. 16 h 00 / greetings and Prizegiving

2) For 2nd category (Série Nationale)

Same calendar with 2 more rounds

Sat 14 : 15 h 00 / Round 8

Sun 15 : 9 h 00 / Round 9. 15 h 00 / greetings and Prizegiving

3) there will be a France VS Africa match too.

Sat 14 : 15 h 00 / Round 1

Sun 15 : 9 h 00 / Round 2

4) Fees : 45 Euros before February 1st. 50 Euros in situ.

While waiting the results of 2002 and 2003 French champion named Laurent NICAULT in 2004 CANNES tournament, You can see the results of 5th and 6th rounds of 2003-2004 NORMANDY championship.

As you could see, I drew LAURENT NICAULT !!!

What about it, HANCO and ALEXANDER ?
