Mister Jacek Pawlicki: Is your FMJD-Rating-list realistic?
For example:
1) A player without any result just holds his points. Is that your idea?
2) The no. 1 did'nt win a tournament for many years. Can you explain?

Ik zal voor hem antwoorden.

1. Ja, de laatste rating is de meest betrouwbare indicator van zijn speelsterkte die voorhanden is. Wel wordt hij bij onvoeldoende partijen van de A-lijst geschraptt.
2. Hij heeft de afgelopen jaren naar mijn weten aan precies 2 toernooien (WK, Bijlmer) meegedaan. Wie niet veel speelt kan, ondanks zijn grote klasse, ook niet veel winnen.

Hoeveel mondiale toppers spelen er in de ereklasse, waarin Sijbrands tot dit seizoen speelde en vermoedelijk ook volgend jaar weer spelen zal. Dit afgezien van het feit dat hij ook in lagere klassen gewoon moet presteren om die positie vast te houden.

1. Nee, hij won dat toernooi niet maar over alle partijen gezien is hij de beste.

So Mister Jacek Pawlicki I still have some questions.
The old men here remember the last victories of the actual no. 1.
In the time of Andreiko, Baba Sy and Hisard -to name a few- our No. 1 did win tournaments. Think of the Suikertournaments.
Later on some Russians but also dutch players did win toptournaments.
It seems necessary to explain why the actual no. 1 is the no. 1.

We kunnen nu wel gaan roepen hoe irritant Ben is, met zijn kruistocht tegen onze Ton, maar ergens heeft hij wel een punt.
Volgens mij heeft Sijbrands zelf gezegd dat het raar is dat hij nr. 1 op de wereldranglijst staat.

Misschien wel, maar hij schijnt ook aan geheugenverlies te lijden, de arme man. Post zijn berichtje 2 keer. Bang dat pawlicki mijn bericht leest? Vast niet.

Er zal toch geen fout in het programma zitten, waarmee de ratings berekend worden?
Het viel mij op, dat de FMJD-ratings van de Nedelandse deelneemsters aan het EK vrouwen voor en na dat EK slechts 1 of 2 puntjes verschilden (behalve bij Sarah, maar zij is een nieuwkomer).
Bij Hendrik's ratingmachine bleek onlangs een foutje te zitten. Als nummer laatst uit de ranglijkst tegen nummer 1 van de ranglijst won, veranderde er niets in hun ratings. Klein programmeerfoutje, dat Hendrik inmiddels verbeterd heeft.
Kan iemand uit de vorige rating van Sijbrands zijn huidige rating berekenen? Dan weten we snel genoeg hoe het zit.

Het gaat er niet om of er een rekenfout gemaakt wordt. Het gaat er om of het logisch is dat er iemand bovenaan de wereldranglijst staat die nauwelijks (internationale) wedstrijden speelt.
De regels zullen best goed toegepast worden, maar zijn de regels zelf in orde?

Ok, het gaat om de sterkste speler van de wereld. Dan vind ik het logisch dat de sterkste competitie van de wereld meegenomen wordt. Dat Sijbrands de laatste jaren niet meer de internationale toernooien gewonnen heb waar hij aan meedeed, doet er niets aan af, maar dat heeft vraagje al verduidelijkt. In de competitie wint hij (uiteraard) regelmatig (of bijna altijd).

His last results in your lists with calculations are in the lists of 01/07/2004 and 01/04/2004: both times -2 (negative two), based on his results in the dutch team championship
Not any result in your list with calculations with date 01/10/2004.
I can imagine Sijbrands is surprised with his first place.
Meanwhile your list is a commercial and political instrument.
Sijbrands' sponsor uses it (in the announcement of the next blind simultane).
The 10 players, asking for new game scoring rules, also use it.

Without an explanation your list is just an example of GiGo (garbage in, garbage out).
