You can remark that there is a player born in REUNION ISLAND ( French Indian Ocean Island) who plays in Montreal (DOMINIQUE HIBON).

LOUIS GILLES - who played Panamerican championship and drew L.S WONG - will eventually win this tournament.

Memorial starts today

Post by Andre Leclerc »

Just a quick note to let you know the 2nd Memorial Marcel-Deslauriers starts today (first game at 5:00pm in Montreal). Iser Kouperman arrived yesterday and gave a simultaneous games session. While he was performing, the two Haitians stars arrived on the site of the Festival: Anthony Alexandre and Shang Wong Louiceus. With Raoul Alias, who arrived July 19, we now have 4 "foreigners" participating. The fifth one, Abdoulaye Der from Senegal may miss the first round. More news later...

I happened to be in montreal this week, not knowing about the tournament.

I was visiting round 3. I could see with my own eyes how Kouperman beat Lubarski in a strong "model"-game.

Hello André, Hello Bert !!

This Saturday afternoon, Damier Club De Rouen received DOMINIQUE HIBON who played in MONTREAL this year. He informed us ( amid of lot of informations) that J.M SIMON and Paulvin SIMON are brothers for instance.
Remember that DOMINIQUE HIBON was a student in MONTREAL.
DOMINIQUE HIBON was born in REUNION ISLAND ( French Indian Ocean).
Now D. HIBON lives in EVREUX , about 50 km from ROUEN ( NORMANDY-WEST OF FRANCE)

Update

Post by Andre Leclerc »

Hello everybody! Sorry for this late update (internet problems at home and busy with the tournament...). The seventh and last round just started, matching Shang Wong vs Lubarski; Kouperman vs Carisse; Alexandre vs Alias; Rigaud vs Paulvin Simon; ... Those are the leaders. In fact here is the standings after 6 rounds:
1. Shang Wong 11 pts
2. Kouperman 9 pts
3. Lubarski 8 pts
4. Alias 7 pts
5. Alexandre 7 pts
6. Carisse 7 pts
7. Rigaud 7 pts
8. Paulvin Simon 6 pts
...

Last night (5th round) Kouperman beat Alexandre. This morning Paulvin Simon drew Kouperman, while Lubarski drew Alexandre. Shang Wong beat Alias and Carisse beat Blanchard.
More details to come, along with games and pictures (and some shots of Bert Zwart too!).
The GMI Abdoulaye Der arrived last night after problems with his flight. He unfortunately couldn't play but will do a blind simultaneous session tonight. Him and the two Haitian stars will be staying in Montreal for another week...
