To All Federations and Countries of the American Continent


Dear Presidents and Representatives,

On behalf of the Suriname Draughts Federation, I wish to address you with clarity and respect at this important moment for our continent.

Suriname remains fully committed to the organization of the PAMDCC Championships dated April18-26, 2026. Let it therefore be clearly understood that the Youth Championship and the Women’s Championship will not be canceled. Both championships will proceed as planned.

Moments like these call for calm, unity, and responsibility.

Strong institutions are built not by uncertainty, but by commitment. For this reason, we kindly call on all federations to support the success of these championships through timely action.

Please confirm your participation, submit your players, and send your delegation details as soon as possible.

This is essential for the host country to prepare properly, organize efficiently, and welcome all participants in the best possible manner.

Let us move forward together in a spirit of cooperation and continental pride. Let us make these championships a success through discipline, clarity, and shared commitment.

Subject: Anti-Doping Controls and Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) – Important Information for Players
The World Draughts Federation (FMJD) wishes to inform all players that, in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code established by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), anti-doping controls may be conducted at any time.
Such controls may take place in-competition and may apply to all players regardless of level, category, or ranking.
A dedicated “Clean Sport” section is available on the FMJD website under “Official Info”: FMJD - Clean Sport
General Responsibility of Players
Each player is personally responsible for ensuring that any medication or treatment they use complies with anti-doping regulations.
Before taking any substance or undergoing any treatment, players must verify whether it appears on the WADA Prohibited List: ( Prohibited List | World Anti Doping Agency ).
Failure to comply with anti-doping rules may result in disciplinary sanctions, even in cases of legitimate medical need.
Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE)
If a player must take, for health reasons, a medication containing substances included in the WADA Prohibited List, the player must initiate the procedure to obtain a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).
A TUE allows a player to use a necessary medication or treatment without committing an anti-doping rule violation, provided that all required criteria are met and properly documented.
Where and How to Apply
TUE applications must be submitted to the relevant National Anti-Doping Organization/Agency/Authority or directly to the FMJD.
Players are responsible for identifying the appropriate authority in their country or competition context and for following the official application procedures established by that organization.

Timing and Importance of Early Application
Players are strongly advised to submit TUE applications well in advance of any competition or potential anti-doping control.
Given the possibility of unannounced testing a TUE must be approved before the use of any prohibited substance or method.
In the absence of an approved TUE at the time of testing, the presence or use of a prohibited substance may constitute an anti-doping rule violation. Retroactive TUEs are granted only in limited and strictly defined circumstances.
Medical Guidance
Players should:
inform their physician that they are subject to anti-doping rules;
check all prescribed medications against the WADA Prohibited List;
consider alternative treatments that are not prohibited, where possible;
apply for a TUE as soon as a prohibited treatment becomes necessary.
Final Remarks
FMJD encourages all players, federations, and officials to promote awareness and understanding of anti-doping responsibilities.
Ensuring compliance is essential to protect both the integrity of the sport and the health of players.

Mindsportgames in Londen | Roep Bhawanibhiek wint Draughts

Londen was afgelopen periode het kloppende hart van de 30e Mind Sports Olympiade, waar de beste denkers ter wereld samenkomen. Naast backgammon, schaken en andere denksporten, was het dammen een van de absolute hoogtepunten van dit prestigieuze evenement.

Dammen trok dit jaar extra aandacht, mede dankzij de indrukwekkende inbreng van Zuid-Korea. Wat een prestatie: uit een voorselectie van 1000 spelers wisten uiteindelijk slechts 60 deelnemers zich te kwalificeren voor de eindfase. Dit toont niet alleen de enorme populariteit van dammen in Zuid-Korea (naast China), maar ook het ongelooflijk hoge niveau waarop deze sport daar wordt beoefend. Het was een ware show van tactiek, precisie en doorzettingsvermogen!

Rapid Toernooi: Schaaktelling en Spanning
Naast het traditionele dammen was er ook het Rapid Toernooi, waar de schaaktelling werd toegepast. Met 24 deelnemers was de concurrentie hevig, en de Zuid-Koreaanse spelers lieten weer zien waarom ze tot de top behoren. Hun inzet en vaardigheden waren indrukwekkend, en de spanning was tot het laatste moment voelbaar.

En dan de uiteindelijke winnaars van het Rapid Toernooi: De top drie bestond uit:
1. Roep Bhawanibhiek – met een indrukwekkende score van 6,5 punten
2. Anders Kuusk (Estland) – met 6 punten
3. Marco de Koning – die met 5,5 punten het podium compleet maakte
