Hi Ed,
The game continued like this
15-04 11-17 15-20 (as a human I prefer 33-29) 21-43!
White to play
Damy did not see the danger to have black 35 trapped like this. My plan is rather long but seems very efficient : I intend to play first 17-21-26 in order to protect my black men. Then I intend to attack white man 33 in order to provoque the 15-20-25 white formation. Having obtained this position it is now easy to take the 04-36 diagonal in order to run the black men towards the king row.
1...11-17 2.25-20 21-43 3.04-09 43-48 4.20-15 41-05 5.09-25 17-21
6.33-29 21-26 7.25-09 48-39 8.09-04 39-50 9.35-30 50-45 10.29-24 45-12
11.04-09 12-03 12.09-18 03-14 13.18-34 14-28 14.34-18 28-39 15.30-25 39-44
16.18-13 44-11 17.13-09 11-02 18.24-20 05-46 19.09-22 02-07 20.22-04 07-23
21.04-27 23-41 22.27-36 41-47 23.36-22 47-36 24.22-33 36-09 25.33-24 26-31
and I stopped the game here
No doubt that Damy has not made the best moves but my long term "human" plan seems rather difficult to detect for a program.
Changing the evaluation function is not that easy, because in other situations, the formation b24-35 against a black king on the long diagonal may be a very efficient formation.
