Op topsportgebied het nieuws dat Jan Groenendijk als vice-wereldkampioen de kans gaat krijgen om een match om de wereldtitel te spelen tegen de huidige wereldkampioen Yurii Anikeev. Waar en wanneer is nog niet duidelijk, maar er wordt hard gewerkt om in 2024 een mooie match te organiseren!
Op organisatorisch vlak het nieuws dat Siep Buurke, hoofdredacteur van Het Damspel, de functie van Toernooi Manager bij de FMJD gaat vervullen. Binnen de werelddambond beseft men dat er extra organisatiekracht nodig is om de vele internationale damtoernooien goed te coördineren en organiseren. Succes, Siep!

Steven Tjong dank je voor de topic. Het is onze eerste officiele toernooi geweest en het was niet makkelijk. Borden met nummers gebruikt en toch werd er verkeerd genoteerd maar over het algemeen verliep het wel vlot. Ik dank hierbij ook Piet Bouma en Henry Sjoerwamo die me veel hebben bijgestaan om het toernooi goed te laten verlopen. Andrew Tjon A Ong krijgt ook mijn dank als tussenpersoon voor het maken van de topic. Er volgen na dit toernooi zeker andere en waarschijnlijk ook open toernooien. De kampioen is zoals verwacht geworden Amoni Afonsoewa Hij won 500€ een trofee en een ticket naar Costa Rica. De 2de plek won 300€ een trofee zn ook een ticket Costa Rica. De derde plek kreeg 200€ en een trofee. De 4de plek kreeg een trofee en de 5e plek Melvin Gameboy Dahl kreeg ook een trofee.

Het WK Amateurs voor spelers met een FMJD-rating van <2100 wordt gehouden in Loutraki, Griekenland(!) van 5 t/m 8 juni 2025.
Wees er wel snel bij, want de deadline om je in te schrijven is 20 januari 2025.
Loutraki is een kustplaatsje aan het begin van de Peleponnesos, ten westen van Athene. Geen verkeerde bestemming voor een damtoernooi begin juni!
Dear Presidents of Federations, dear draughts players, organizers, and supporters around the world!
Thank you for the trust you have shown to me and my team, which gives me and us the opportunity to lead our beloved sport’s world federation for the next four years. I am glad that you elected me as FMJD President at the General Assembly held in Turkey on Sunday.
I would like to thank the outgoing FMJD President, Jacek Pawlicki, for his work, which I value highly. I equally appreciate the work of my opponent, the President of the Latvian Draughts Federation, Vladislavs Vesperis, in his role as FMJD Secretary General, and I believe that we will have good cooperation going forward — something we already discussed with Vladislavs right after the elections.
I would also like to express my gratitude to the outgoing Vice President Richard Przewozniak and Tournament Director Siep Buurke, whose terms have ended, but with whom I wish to continue cooperating in every way. Both confirmed to me after Sunday’s General Assembly that they are ready to do so.
I also want to thank FMJD Office Manager Agnieszka Stajszczak for her excellent work and Alexander Presman for taking care of IT solutions. I hope our cooperation for the draughts will continue.
I am very pleased that Gou Yujun (China) has become FMJD Vice President, the new Director of International Relations is the President of the European Draughts Confederation, Carlo Bordini (Italy), the new Secretary General is Jan van Dijk (Netherlands), and the new Tournament Director is Lyublyana Turiy (USA). Magda Pawlowska (Poland) will continue her work as Director of Youth Tournaments, and Yana Kuzinets (Israel) as Treasurer.
At the first meeting of the new board, we will appoint Aare Harak as FMJD Executive Director and Vitalia Doumech as Office Manager; neither will be members of the board. I believe that their contribution to FMJD management will bring fresh energy and many positive developments.
The new board will begin preparations for the FMJD structural changes and improvements that we promised to implement upon election. In addition to Vice President Gou Yujun, who represents Asia on the new board, we will propose to the General Assembly that the Presidents or representatives of the African, American, and European Federations also be elected as Vice Presidents (a federation may also nominate someone other than its confederation president).
According to the plan, next year’s Vice Presidents will be Oumar Thiero (President of the African Confederation), Clifton Agata (President of the American Confederation), and Carlo Bordini (President of the European Confederation). Their main responsibility as Vice Presidents will be to lead, guide, and promote draughts activities on their respective continents.
The exact date of next year’s General Assembly will be announced later, but as mentioned during the Assembly, it will most likely take place during the World Championship match in the Netherlands.
As promised before the elections, the 2027 World Championship and the regular General Assembly will be held in the Netherlands. Since the FMJD was founded there in 1947, this will also mark the 80th anniversary of FMJD, which we will celebrate together during the World Championship and General Assembly.

Chers Présidents de fédérations, chers joueurs, organisateurs et soutiens du jeu de dames à travers le monde,
Merci pour la confiance que vous m’avez témoignée, ainsi qu’à mon équipe, ce qui nous donne l’opportunité de diriger la fédération mondiale de notre sport bien-aimé pendant les quatre prochaines années. Je suis heureux que vous m’ayez élu Président de la FMJD lors de l’Assemblée Générale qui s’est tenue dimanche en Turquie.
Je tiens à remercier le Président sortant de la FMJD, Jacek Pawlicki, pour son travail, que j’apprécie profondément. J’estime tout autant le travail de mon concurrent, le Président de la Fédération lettone de dames, Vladislavs Vesperis, dans son rôle de Secrétaire général de la FMJD, et je suis convaincu que nous aurons une excellente coopération à l’avenir — un sujet dont nous avons déjà parlé avec Vladislavs juste après les élections.
J’aimerais également exprimer ma gratitude au Vice-Président sortant Richard Przewozniak et au Directeur des tournois Siep Buurke, dont les mandats ont pris fin, mais avec lesquels je souhaite continuer à collaborer de toutes les manières possibles. Selon le plan, les Vice-Présidents de l’année prochaine seront Oumar Thiero (Président de la Confédération africaine), Clifton Agata (Président de la Confédération américaine) et Carlo Bordini (Président de la Confédération européenne). Leur principale responsabilité, en tant que Vice-Présidents, sera de diriger, orienter et promouvoir les activités liées au jeu de dames sur leurs continents respectifs.
La date exacte de l’Assemblée Générale de l’année prochaine sera annoncée ultérieurement, mais comme mentionné lors de l’Assemblée, elle aura très probablement lieu pendant le match du Championnat du Monde aux Pays-Bas.
Comme promis avant les élections, le Championnat du Monde 2027 et l’Assemblée Générale ordinaire se tiendront aux Pays-Bas. Puisque la FMJD y a été fondée en 1947, cela marquera également le 80e anniversaire de la FMJD, que nous célébrerons ensemble pendant le Championnat du Monde et l’Assemblée Générale.

Уважаемые президенты федераций, дорогие шашисты, организаторы и сторонники шашек по всему миру!
Благодарю вас за доверие, оказанное мне и моей команде, что даёт нам возможность руководить нашей любимой спортивной федерацией в течение следующих четырёх лет. Я рад, что вы избрали меня Президентом ФМЖД на Генеральной Ассамблее, состоявшейся в воскресенье в Турции.
Хочу выразить благодарность уходящему Президенту ФМЖД Яцеку Павлицкому за проделанную работу, которую я высоко ценю. Я также высоко оцениваю труд моего соперника — Президента Латвийской федерации шашек Владислава Веспериса — в его роли Генерального секретаря ФМЖД и уверен, что у нас будет хорошее сотрудничество в будущем. Мы уже обсудили это с Владиславом сразу после выборов.
Также выражаю признательность бывшему вице-президенту Ришарду Пшевозняку и директору турниров Сиепу Бурке, чьи полномочия завершились, но с которыми я хотел бы продолжить сотрудничество во всех направлениях. Оба подтвердили мне после воскресной Ассамблеи, что готовы к этому.
Хочу поблагодарить Агнешку Стайшчак, менеджера офиса ФМЖД, за её большую и качественную работу, а также Александра Пресмана за заботу об IT-решениях. Надеюсь, что наше сотрудничество в интересах шашек продолжится.
Я очень рад, что Гоу Юйцзюнь (Китай) стал вице-президентом ФМЖД, новым директором по международным отношениям стал президент Европейской конфедерации шашек Карло Бордини (Италия), новым генеральным секретарём — Ян ван Дейк (Нидерланды), а новым директором турниров — Любляна Турий (США). Магда Павловска (Польша) продолжит работу в качестве директора юношеских турниров, а Яна Кузинец (Израиль) останется казначеем.
На первом заседании нового правления мы назначим Ааре Харака исполнительным директором ФМЖД и Виталию Думеч менеджером офиса; ни один из них не будет входить в состав правления. Я уверен, что их участие в управлении ФМЖД принесёт новую энергию и множество положительных изменений.
Новое правление начнёт подготовку к структурным реформам и улучшениям ФМЖД, которые мы обещали реализовать после выборов. Помимо вице-президента Гоу Юйцзюня, представляющего Азию в новом правлении, мы предложим Генеральной Ассамблее избрать вице-президентами также президентов или представителей африканских, американских и европейских федераций (федерация может предложить вице-президентом и другого человека, не являющегося президентом конфедерации).
Согласно плану, в следующем году вице-президентами станут Умар Тьеро (президент Африканской конфедерации), Клифтон Агата (президент Американской конфедерации) и Карло Бордини (президент Европейской конфедерации). Их основная задача как вице-президентов — руководить, направлять и популяризировать развитие шашек на своих континентах.
