I think, the problem is in the base idea of the new Statute.
100 - is international draughts sport and others - are nationals...
For the Netherlands these two meanings are the same, but not for others.
So they cannot accept it.

I described the situation in Ukrainian draughts. 100 and 64 organically
coexist together. It's a real fact! And of course nobody will vote against himself.

And I dont understand what 64 and 100 needs to share?
1 time per 4 years IMSA games?
Only with Accord Games have some troubles. But 6-8 places on such games as demostration of 64 is enough.
Russian problem? It's also possible to decide.
Not so much...

A little oxygen for 64 and other national variants of draughts games - and 100 also will breathe easier!
We dont have the situation as in a chess. When one kind of a game is much popular.
In draughts: 100, 64, checkers... - are all small sports. So the way of cooperation maybe is acceptable.

For exemple, countries as Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic...
They played 100 draughts and joined FMJD. But this game didnt become popular in these countries if compare with national variants.

So Portugal stoped to play. And as you know - they play spanish draughts.

And how many portugeses will play now in tournament in Portugal in 100 draughts?

they also play in 64-brasilians.

in PHILIPPINES play both 100 and 64 (brasilians)

How popular draughts in Italy you know. And they did so much for 100 draughts.
But anyway italian-64 draughts is the most popular there. Because it's similar with checkers - they started to play checkers now. And italians won tournament in Lille.

Draughts is a part of nactional culture and to forget own culture is not easy...

Of course, the current Statute is not well and needs to change it.
But should do it in equal rights, not when some one dictate rules.
Normal dialog and desire to solve the problem with minimal casualties - a good way!

Most remarkable observation I did during talks afterwards was that nobody lookes like to have studied the text of the new statues thoroughly. A lot of people didn't have seen the new status at all. Secondly I observed, that somebody have told to the representives of the courntries with 64, that the new statues are very bad for the countries with 64. When you read the new status you will determine, that the difference between the new and the old one isn't that spectacular. There is nothing in the statues, that is bad fot 64. There is nothing in the new statues, that is bad for the East European countries. If so then the board will support any proposition to change this.

You can find the old statues on the FMJD-site http://www.fmjd.org/docs/FMJD_Statutes_2011.pdf. For the people that are interested I add the complete text of the new proposed statues below (I removed some spaces and line brakes only).

Dear Frits!
I cannot know exactly what is in the heads of leaders of national federations.
I just can try to guess.
But you can be sure, that if they have such opinion - it is not an fortuity.
It is just their opinion.
Dont think, that they dont know the topic.
They have a logic and a possibility to think by themself.
Presidents of national federations are not the random people. They know everything what is happening in the draughts World very well.

If some country develop 2 kinds of draughts sport (64 and 100) and inside of this country they have only one national draughts federation for both kinds - of course they want to have the same also in FMJD. why not?
And as we saw: from 25 GA participants: 19 are like this...

For example:
Article 1. Name and headquarters
1.1 The World Draughts Federation FMJD, originally Fédération Mondiale du Jeu de Dames, is a non-profit association, composed of autonomous and independent international draughts federations for draughts played on 100 squares (international draughts) .

100 draughts sport is the main comparing with others. FMJD is for 100. So, most of them dont want to accept it.
It's just my own opinion.

(But even here is not clear. "composed of autonomous and independent international draughts federations for draughts played on 100 squares".
FMJD composed of international federations for draughts 100. Maybe more right is:
composed of autonomous and independent national draughts federations for draughts played on 100 squares.)

Of course, you can say, that FMJD was build only for 100. But soon situation changed, soon other countries joined to FMJD with other vision. And such countries as former USSR's are full members and they did so big job for developing draughts in the World too.
And even president from the Netherlands Van Beek changed the opinion too.

Of course 100 should be as the priority draughts sport. But not only one!
as for me cooperation of different draughts systems inside of FMJD can give more benefit. More people, more ideas, more resources, more possibilities.

You can see that from non-100 draughts countries - only USSR have grew very much.
Others play not good... It's during more than 50 years.

So if you give a chance for some country to develop own kind of draughts (or similar with the most popular) - it can give more dividends for all draughts and 100 too.

For example. Thai draughts is similar to Spanish. Spanish is popular in Portugal and Marocco. Also Czech and Argentinian draughts is similar.
Other group is arabian-turkish draughts.
and so on.
If some country can get faster a good result in some kind of draughts - they will have more energy to develop draughts at all.
And in which kind of draughts they can do it faster? Of course, in the own national draughts. Because they like it more and they have more experience in it.

Like Italy. Now they have good results in checkers. So it can give more support for Italian draughts at all, so international draughts community will win from it.

and 100 draughts also will win, because people from other countries will come to play in it too. Because anyway 100 is the most popular now.

now in FMJD we have 3 the main kinds of draughts: 100, 64 (russian+brasilian) and checkers. Soon possible to add: turkish draughts and spanish.
turkish-arabian draughts has a very big potencial. Because the countries there are very rich.
For example, you can give for Turkey a possibility to make their sport as International, to give them a Status, take part on IMSA games - instead of it they will organise something in 100 draughts.

It's just my opinion. And I even dont know the opinion of Ukrainian draughts federation's president...
So it can be wrong ideas.

I just want to say - that national federations have the right to have their own position.

I cannot know exactly what is in the heads of leaders of national federations.
I just can try to guess.
But you can be sure, that if they have such opinion - it is not an fortuity.
It is just their opinion.
Dont think, that they dont know the topic.

Dear Juri

I am puzzled too about the reasons for the voting of 11/12 countries during the last meeting. Somebody has told to them, that the new statues were very bad for them. They trust them. They voted like he adviced. The board isn't the only one puzzled now. This is the moment, that this guy should "step forwards or don't talk ever again" and explain to the draughts world: "Why..."

The FMJD is a club of draughts in all his forms. But especially for 100. Everybody should understand how it is. At the current moment the board of the FMJD exists of people of 100. Section 64 and checkers aren't involved in the daily business of the FMJD. That is because they wanted it in this way. They want to be independant. They want to have their own board and their own money. They don't have voting right on the General Assemblee. That is because they have their own. They don't want to be involved. So the statues of the FMJD has to reflect this fact.

There are two options:
1. We vote again about the statues and amendments in the current form.
2. We vote about statues with amendments given by whoever wants the best for draughts.

The board does have an open mind. We will support every amendment, that is good for draughts.

Section 64 and checkers has to make their choice and stand for it forever: Independancy or not. There is nothing in between. Section 64 and checkers had promised to give their view on new statues within a month. I hope that the anonymous guy who told the countries, that the new statues are bad, will step forwards and will give his vision as well. So we will get the best for draughts together...
