Some interesting issues are raised in this contribution. For one, the chess world is small but still perhaps 10 times bigger than the draughts world. It's intriguing that Alexander Georgiev can participate in a 4 player all-play-all (he scored 3 out of 3, but it could have been less, this appears to be the right level) in Wijk aa nZee and besically nobody notices him as being a special person. I know of no pictures of him being taken there on any of the many chess sites dealing with Wijk aan Zee. The draughts world should do much more about out-of-draughts publicity. When two top grandmasters in chess participated in an elite go competition in Japan, it was reported broadly in the chess media and when SHOGI superstar Yoshahiru Habu entered the chess world about ten years ago there were big reports. Use the other mind sports!

Ik kreeg een reactie per email van Tjalling van der Bosch. Hij heeft op zijn damblog aandacht besteed aan het fenomeen Georgiev.
