Engine test

Post by Krzysztof Grzelak » Thu Jul 06, 2023 08:12

Due to the upcoming tournament in September, I would like to test the engines before the tournament has a website https://www.draughtsprograms.eu/test/liveGames.php. The test will consist of a match of 8 games with a time of 3 minutes + 10 seconds per 100 moves on the DGT board. I will also inform you (on the forum) on what day and time the match will take place. I will also provide information about the configuration of the engines when playing in a match. At the very beginning I will test the Ares engine and GWD. The Ares - GWD match test will take place on July 9, 2023 at 10:00. The match will be played on separate computers with the following parameters:

- processor - AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX 3.0GHz
- hard drive - Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD 2 TB
- memory ram - Kingston HyperX Fury 128 GB DDR4 2400MHz CL15
- monitor - Nec MultiSync EA245WMi
- keyboard - A4Tech KV-300H Slim
- mouse - Razer DeathAdder Essential
- operating system - Microsoft Windows 11 Professional 64 bit

Setting up engines during a match.

Ares NNUE - Joost Buijs - Netherlands

Hi Krzysztof,

Thank you for playing these matches! It's always interesting to watch the games unfold.

You can download the slightly improved version Ares v1.6-beta. This is as far as it goes, I decided to stop working on the old version, this will really be the last one.

I will continue working on version 2.0, but it still needs a lot of work, I'm afraid that it won't be finished before your September tournament. After many experiments the old version became a very big mess, so I don't want to rush things with the new version, otherwise this is getting a mess too.

Hello Krzysztof,

It was a good test, and nice to watch live. But what happened at the end of game 6?

The problem stayed with the Tornado program. The program automatically made the move itself. I couldn't even undo a move quickly.
I'll ask Frank to see what might have happened. The program itself played move 46-23.
