Hi all
Use to play a type of draughts as a boy but preferred chess until recently where I purchased a draughts app for my phone, and began enjoying 8x8 draughts again. A few questions, is their a time limit in draughts, like chess?? and regular tournamnets, olympiads, Euro champs, world championship cycle and where can you get info on this.
Regarding openings are their resources on this.
Where can I get the official rules on 8x8 draughts
And where can I get info on knowing when a game is drawn. (minimal pieces etc)
Any good programs for the computer
Is their an official online live play/correspondence site like chess.com
Any other draughts info
Cheers Rob

Re: New to Draughts
Hi Rob,
it's a shame that nobody has replied to your question yet.
In this forum most people play 10x10, so it is a bit harder to get information on 8x8 draughts.
In order to be able to answer your questions, it is necessary to know which draughts variation you exactly play. As you can see in the list here there are quite a lot of variations even with the 8x8 board.
A lot of official information can be found on the website of the world draughts federation http://www.fmjd.org
