8th THAILAND OPEN 2012 (18-27 MAY 2012)
INVITATION for Thailand Open 2012
Sun, sea, beach, nature, culture, friendly people, nice food, nice nightlife, draughts, … is there a better combination? Playing draughts in the morning, swimming in the sea or sitting on an elephant in the afternoon. In the evening, if you like, there are many open bars.
In May 2012 there will be an international draughts tournament in Jomtien, a nice tourist village just at the beach. Nine rounds in nine days according to the Swiss System and the rules of the FMJD. We will play eight games in the morning and one game in the afternoon. There will be enough time to take part on (of course fully voluntary) excursions, or to play rapid (‘blitz’) games, or to play a small tournament ‘Thai draughts’ with the locals. The entrance fee of the participation is 50 euro. If you want to stay in the same hotel as the tournament, the costs are app. 148 euro for 9 nights with breakfast, based on a shared room. The transfer Bangkok-Jomtien is about 7 euro per person with the minibus. Excursions are, of course, not included in the price. We recommend you to spend more days in the nice country of Thailand. Come and join the 8th International Draughts Tournament in Jomtien (‘Thailand Open’) 18-27 May 2012 in the Jomtien Garden Hotel, 31/71 Moo 12, Nongprue, Banglamoung, Chonburi 20260, THAILAND.

21 May: 8.00 hrs. 3rd round; 14.00 hrs. Excursion (if you like)
22 May: 8.00 hrs. 4th round; 15.00 hrs. 5th round

26 May: 8.00 hrs. 8th round; 14.00 hrs. Excursion (if you like)
27 May: 8.00 hrs. 9th round; 15.00 hrs. Closing Ceremony
We’ll play according the rules of the FMJD. 1.20 hours + 1 minute per move and Swiss-system on rating. Referee is Mr. E. Davelaar, international referee of the FMJD.
Prizes:
There are many prizes (at least 50 prices, devided in money and cups) in several categories. It's depending on the amount of participants.
There are special prizes for the best Asian players, Best Women, and Youth players if there are enough participants in these categories (>3).
Do you want to join the tournament?
It's not necessary to be a strong draughts player.

Re: 8th THAILAND OPEN 2012 (18-27 MAY 2012)
Thailand Open is in Pattaya Jomtien really popular. The Charity draughtstournament, was even the Opening article on the front page of Pattaya People, one of the most popular newspapers
From left to right: Sponsors Mathieu Corporaal (Tulip House), Martien Vlemmix (Director Mascotte Thailand), General Manager Jomtien Garden Hotel and a host strain also anonymous sponsor.
Sitting: The African Grandmasters Macodou Ndiaye (Senegal) and Jean Marc Ndjofang (Cameroon). Both have made a good show of the Charity draughtstournament
The text is now easier to read. The Charity supported this year was an orphanage in Pattaya
The opening of the tournament had to accept a report on the second page of the newspaper
The total revenue for the orphanage (Mercy Center Pattaya) was about 300 euros

Re: 8th THAILAND OPEN 2012 (18-27 MAY 2012)
Thailand Open 2012 presents: 11 days Roundtour Malaysia
Immediately after the Thailand Open, we have a very nice trip to Malaysia which everyone can participate! After successful tours to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam last year, this year is Malaysia's turn. The great diversity of culture and nature makes Malaysia a fascinating country. This trip offers the best Malaysia has to offer. The modern architecture in the capital Kuala Lumpur is again in stark contrast to the colonial center of George Town (Penang), the second largest city of Malaysia.
We start in the super-modern capital Kuala Lumpur. Then we go to the oldest rainforest in the world: the Taman Negara National Park, we are very adventurous staying in guesthouses in the middle of the jungle. Just the way to there is an experience in itself. Then to the highlands of Malaysia, Cameron Highlands and then many of the colonial past to sniff at the famous island of Malaysia: Penang, beautiful sun kissed tropical beaches.
Then we go to Thailand's largest and most famous island of Phuket, where we spend two nights. There is no country in the world where train travel is more enjoyable than in Thailand. Especially if you have a large group. All open sections, so everyone can enjoy easy access to neighborhoods to have a chat to make a game of draughts or a game of cards. During the evening the seats by the stewards transformed into real beds with curtains before. A beautiful sight!
Therefore, we will seize the opportunity to tour this wonderful train adventure with this decision. The next morning we arrive in Bangkok, where our tour will end. Most will have one or two days in Bangkok to stay still to go shopping before the trip, packed and ready to accept. End of an unforgettable holiday!

The price is 865 euros per person based on two people in the room. The single supplement is 190 euros. This journey is nowhere else to book. A similar trip at an average NL-tour costs nearly double, and then there is not nearly as much as included in this trip and without Thailand's most famous beach Island Phuket. See for example:

In the morning we arrive at the station in Bangkok, where our tour ends. Most people will then transfered to a nice hotel in Bangkok for another one, two or three days. They can make excursions, do their shoppings, relaxing or sightseeing in the big city of Bangkok.
We are convinced that we have put together a wonderful tour. It is a very varied journey with the main highlights of Malaysia. We will run this tour in collaboration with a Malaysian tour operator, who has been carefully chosen. After weeks of negotiations, we managed to get the best price for what will be offered.

Re: 8th THAILAND OPEN 2012 (18-27 MAY 2012)
Over almost four weeks, the historic edition Thailand Open will be in full swing. Time for an update.
Due to the large number of Russian speaking players, we have a special Russian-and English-speaking Toparbiter attracted. It is Aliaksandr (Sasha) Aniska from Belarus. He was early this year organizer of the Worldchampionship Minicadets and boys & girls Hope category in Slonim, Belarus. In that tournament the historic event took place: it produced the first Chinese Worldchampion in draughts! It was the then 9-year-old Xinyue Qi from Hubei (China), who had gained her first international experience during Thailand Open 2011.
Arbiter and competitionleader Mr. Aniska will come to Thailand with his spouse and his good friend Vitaly Varushyla. We hope they will feel at home in Thailand very quick.
Furthermore, everything is under control. Every week we receive new registrations of participants, but also we receive cancellations of registrations. The number of participants is constantly around 100 participants.
