I know São Luís very well also because my first wife is from São Luís. I have 2 wonderful daughters with her.
São Luís was founded in September, 8th, 1612, by Daniel de la Touche, from France.
So, in that time they started to play 100 squares !!
Later, the dutch people put out the french people and controlled the city and so 100 squares continued in this city.
In all the country the popular draughts is 64 squares.
Only in São Luís when you speak the word "jogo de damas", everybody understand 100 squares !!

José Maria Silva Filho, father of Allan, is 9 times brazilian champion !!
When José Maria called me and told me: "my son is 14 and he plays very good", immediatelly I thought:
"All the fathers are the same, always they speak they have the best and the most intelligent son in the world !!"
But, immediatelly I remembered something else:
"Strong draughts players never tell somebody is strong if this person is not really strong !!".
Then I told to José Maria:
"Ok, I will include him in the São Caetano team".
I paid his ticket and he come to play for São Caetano city, in our team competition.
And, unbeliveable ! In few minutes I understood that the boy was really good enough to become very strong in short time "
I gave to him around 20 holland and russian books and told him:
"Look, you will read all these books, but, in this order. Please, don´t jump the order. Please, read in this order !!"
And he did !!
One day he called me and told to me:
"I read already in that order all the books 3 times already !!"
Good boy !!
2009, Schvartzman come to Brazil to play the final of our team competition.
After he had to participate in the WC Rio de Janeiro that was not realized.
I organised some simultaneous and demonstrations for Schvartzman and also, 3 days, I asked him to teach Allan.
Allan speaks few words in English and after the 3 days "talking" to Schavartzman he told me:
"Unbeliveable ! I was playing very bad in many variants !! I learned a lot with Schvartzman in these 3 days !!"
This is Allan. Never he will tell: "I know already to play draughts !"
He always will say: "I´m still learning !"
