Another story is that of Laurent Nicault!
The Amsterdam MI Paul Oudshoorn,
a great strategist from Amsterdam,
one of the best in our city,
possibly one of the future Champions of
The Netherlands, how impossible some of us
'think' he once will have good results again,
like they thought from Hans Jansen,
well, this great DraughtsMaster Paul Oudshoorn.
he thinks, at least he told me the last five years, that
Laurent Nicault actually knows more about
Draughts than Arnoud Cordier does, never mind
that Cordier has/had better results!
Of course one with bad thoughts might say that
Paul said that because he was disappointed with
the circumstance that Cordier beat him a couple of times
in the Finishing Result of tournaments, like in the
Mastergroup of the First International Bijlmertournament,
but people who say that, don't know the honesty of
Paul Oudshoorn.
In my view it's a fine compliment for Laurent Nicault!

It is a sad day for me
Today I lost a co-worker who died because of lot of illness.
I have just red an another sad news about international draughts.
In Normandy we lost a player in this same conditions some years ago.
Perhaps Frans Kalsbeek died because of heat wave ?
Have you more information, Hanco ?

Frans Kalsbeek
Frans Kalsbeek
30 november 1935 - 5 august 2003
The article says that Frans Kalsbeek was the founder of the tournament
in Nijmegen. Nineteen years ago Frans came back from Brunssum and
he decided to bring a summertournament like Brunssum to Nijmegen.
In 1999 he decided to withdraw from the organization.
He was a modest man, very hard working.
The author wishes strength to his wife and daughter.

Thanks Hanco,
In Belgium, an another organizer - M. Petitjean - died of illness in the beginning of the year.
I wish that draughts competitors won't forget the simple personnalities who managed themselves to prepare good tournaments for them. They spent a lot of time to find sponsors for instance.
