Ik zocht nog een geschikt fragment voor het uitbuiten van een schijf op <45>. Sijbrands, liefhebber van het Sargin-detail, gaf een mooi voorbeeld tijdens de blindsimultaan.
Hier de ongecorrigeerde versie uit A Course in draughts (niet on en ook niet of, neen, IN!) part II.
This was one of the blindfold games Sijbrands played during his world record simultaneous blindfold of 28 games. Pieces 35 and 45 are not very active. White’s defence 44 / 49 / 50 is very solid. His other pieces are active. White occupies much more space than black.

Tjalling Goedemoed is an experienced trainer in draughts. He has worked with many successful young players who played in World and European championships. Goedemoed composed five courses in draughts at cd-rom. This trainings program containing thousands of exercises is called DamMentor.
The book "A course on draughts" is richly illustrated with diagrams and contains a large amount of exercises and solutions. Tjalling Goedemoed writes in his introduction to the book:
"I am going to begin with a warning: this is not an easy course!
The game of draughts is very hard to play without making major mistakes. You have to know a lot to be able to play at a higher level. In the first part of this course we showed many tactical ways to win a game. Beginners need to focus on tactics first, before they can play long-term-plans, or, in other words, successfully perform a strategy.
In this second part we will study the many positional aspects of the game. First we will learn how to judge positions. Without judging positions correctly it is not possible to make effective calculations in your game. You should now what aspects of a position are favourable and which are not.
Once you know what kind of positions you want to reach you can make plans in your game.
For every type of position we show the major strategies. We won’t neglect tactical aspects of positions, because tactics remain dominant in the game of draughts, even at the highest level. Without considering tactics it is not possible to play a correct strategy."

Geweldig dat er een opvolger is gekomen! Ik heb het meteen op 10x10.org vermeld. Zou er misschien een webpagina gemaakt kunnen worden met informatie over beide boeken? Dat maakt het een stuk gemakkelijker om er naar te verwijzen. Ik heb de download zojuist binnengekregen. Morgen vlieg ik naar Zuid Afrika. Dus mijn mogelijkheden om er direct wat aan te doen zijn wat beperkt. Op het Franse forum zijn sinds 11-11-2009 al een dertigtal(!) postings verschenen over de schitterende Course in Draughts. Dan blijven we hier wel wat achter....
Men is daar al druk bezig met een Franse vertaling!

Dan zou dat een mooi nieuw product kunnen zijn wat best bij een nieuwe DamZ! of DamXL folder geleverd kan worden.
Of een promotiegeschenk aan internationale damvrienden......

Van de week kreeg ik een enthousiaste reactie van Juan Bautista Garro uit Costa Rica, die het boek via 10x10.org gevonden had. Ik hoop op een uitnodiging van de Franse bond... Wel even mijn Frans bijspijkeren...
Lijkt me leuk om in een buitenland eens een trainsstage te geven aan enthousiaste dammers. Mag ook een land als Duitsland, Italie of India zijn.
Costa Rica's Goedemoed teachings klinkt ook lekker passievol.
Ik hoop op een uitnodiging van de Franse bond... Wel even mijn Frans bijspijkeren...

Alweer een leuke, hartelijke email uit het buitenland. Dit is de tweede email uit Kameroen, eerder stuurde een man met de fraaie naam Dieudonne een bericht.
We hebben dus enthousiaste dammers in Frankrijk, Costa Rica en Kameroen die de cursus enthousiast hebben ontvangen. Ik denk dat in Amerika ook wel wat Afro-amerikanen zitten die de cursus oppikken, na deel 1 had ik diverse reacties uit de VS.
