Of course one can also contact Frantz Forbin, the champion of Guadeloupe
and co-organizer.
According to my information it must be a great pleasure to stay in the hotel
from Frantz' beautiful sister!
Der Frantz speaks excellent French and English, and a little German too!

thanks for such a quick reply! i'm justinas jankunas, lithuanian draughts player, at the moment staying in canada. (that's why so much interested in these exotic tournaments!) i've heard about it before. but never paid more attention, since i considered it as something 'beyond human reach'! anyways, if i could know the exact place (or at least a town) of the competition, and the approximate schedule, that'd be appreciated. (i'm not sure at the moment (i'll check that asap), but i believe visa is needed for lithuanians, so your invitation may be required.) and if everything goes smoothly, i might just well come to this island! hope to hear from you soon, justas

Hello Justinas,

Guadeloupe is a french caribean island. Euro is the money used like in most of European Union countries.

I hope that 2004 Guadeloupe tournament organizers have negociated hotel prices. It would be expensive if you book by yourself.

For a tourist, life can be expensive because most of products are imported from Europe.

Only Fruits, vegetables and meat are made in Guadeloupe. So if you are a farmer life is more easy ( except in dry season).

I will advise you some sites where you can access to news about tourism in Guadeloupe later.

hello there! since april's drawing closer, i've started thinking about how to get to guadeloupe, albeit i'm still not 100% sure if i'm coming. however, i'd still like to know where the tournament itself's gonna be held. how far is it from the only landing place for me - pointe a pitre? (the good thing is visa's not needed, so i can leave the 'decision' for the last moment!) txs

Hello Justinas,

according to first information onlined in this topic, Tournament will be held in Baie-Mahaut. It is about 20 minutes from airport by car.

If you decide to go , I advise you to contact

florent.nomed@wanadoo.fr

Perhaps they will be at airport when you arrive.

Remember Guadeloupe is an island of 1609 square kilometers. Not a big island !!
