Bad news from France

Post by Jacques PERMAL » Tue Jun 17, 2003 09:14

FFJD had contacted Vacqueyras mayor - a village near Avignon, south of France- in order to organize the 2003 France championship.

The city council didn't vote in favor of this proposal.

Now, the question is : Where will FFJD organize this tournament scheduled in August ?

Problems exist in France too !!!

Solution

Post by Jacques PERMAL » Fri Jun 20, 2003 08:47

The problem of location of next national championship is now resolved.
It is scheduled from 16th until 24th of August in Hellemmes near LILLE-north of France.
This problem is over.

Very good.
And very quick.

By the way Coup de France will be also (sure for the first time) counted for the FMJD rating.

Who was the main arbiter? Probably the FMJD needs the official signed by the arbiter scoretable. Or at least his confirmation that the published on Internet results are correct.

Misunderstanding

Post by Jacques PERMAL » Fri Jun 20, 2003 11:20

Ok!

1°) there is a misunderstanding.

-Coupe de France is a team competition in France. It is knock-out competition like in tennis.

-Championnat de France ( National championship) is the national championship where participants are individuals. It is a Round Robin tournament. This competition will be scheduled from 16th until 24th of August 2003 near Lille-North of France.

So I should have created a new topic " Championnat de France 2003".
Please excuse me !

2°) The main arbiter of last Championnat de France was a comitee of players. We had decided that because of personnal problem of our referee Maurice Faugier.
The guarantor of the results is Henri Macaux-Director of tournaments- however.

3°) So, I think that you would like to have a confirmation of results of last Championnat de France played in Mont-de-Marsan in August 2002, wouldn't you ?

Rating

Post by Nicolas Guibert » Fri Jun 20, 2003 23:13

Well the team competitition should not be counted for the rating, especially when no player knew about it before the competition began.

Then if you want to take into account this team competition, please let it know to the players for next year. Then we will discuss in France whether we want the FMJD to count it (the FFJD rating does not take into account the team competition)

But for the FMJD, not this year please in any case.

Thanks.

Wow.
I think Jacek expected applause. Me too.
Of course I will send your remark to him.

Dutch team competition is being counted already.

Differences.

Post by Nicolas Guibert » Fri Jun 20, 2003 23:45

I know that Dutch team competition is counted.

Couting team competition is both good and bad.

The Dutch competition is with 10-people team.

The French competition is with 4-people team.

So you see that this is a very important difference.

The second difference is that our competition is a cup (direct elimination), not a championship.

Normally I would applause new competitions rated (I did somewhere else in this forum), but in this case, I disagree (at least for this year till France said yes to the FMJD proposal, which is I think the way to do it).

But I am not in the CD of FFJD so I just speak for myself.
