2, 3, 4, 5, 6 have the same points.
Why isn't SB deciding, but the number of victories?

Krzysztof, thanks again for organizing this tournament! It's amazing that you are willing to put such an amount of effort into this event.

For me this event was very helpful, it gave me a lot of insight in what reasonably could be improved. For one thing an EGDB is really necessary to avoid stepping into continuations with huge material gain that that turn out to be draw due to the high drawing tendency of international Draughts.

I don't know whether there will be an event like this next year, if it does then I will certainly try to bring some improvements to the table.

Krzysztof.
According to the website SB is the deciding tie break criteria (See Regulations, System of the game, point 2):
about the program place in the tournament is decided by the result of Sonneborn - Berger
So I would expect the following order:

pl Name                        We  wi  Re Ve  Pt  SB
1 Damage (Bert Tuyt)          34 20 14 0 54 1589
2  Sjende Blyn (Jelle Wiersma) 34 16 18 0 50 1448
3  Kingsrow (Ed Gilbert)       34 16 18 0 50 1444
4  Scan (Fabien Letouzey)      34 16 18 0 50 1437
5 Ares (Joost Buijs)          34 16 18 0 50 1433
6  Dragon (Michel Grimminck)   34 17 16 1 50 1398

Very impressive tournament. Great contribution to the development of the draughts engines.

Remember one thing this is always the case and will remain so. First there are victories and then Sonneborn - Berger.

Why Dragon is in 6th place. I don't understand that.

Hi to all,

Congratulations for the winners and all participants of this tournament, special thanks to Krzysztof and all the programmers that allowed by giving they private programs to participate to this tournament.

One new thing it's the NNUE style by Ares and Damage that will permit to explore another way to see draughts without of course forget the respectables Kingsrow, Scan, Dragon, Sjende-Blyn and Maximus that are on the list the top engines. Of cousre, i don't forget the others programs.

Thanks to all to take your time just to give to us engine users a fun moment.

God bless you all.

Here you have to make your own GUI and EGDB. Correct a serious mistake. I will describe him. If a pawn has to capture another pawn, it performs it immediately. The engine counts variants unnecessarily and wastes time. These are the rules of draughts.

Hi Krzysztof,

There is no rule that states when you have only one move (a capture) that you have to perform this move immediately. In this case I let the engine calculate with reduced time to get a reasonable ponder move.

I agree that a GUI could make life more easy, but writing a GUI for just one tournament per year is out of the question. A tournament like this could be run fully automatically without human intervention (for instance look at TCEC). Of course you need a universally accepted interface standard to do this. Unfortunately there is no standardization at all in the computer draughts world, so this will never happen.

Krzysztof,

also from my side many thanks for organizing this tournament.
I have much respect for all the time, energy and passion you put into this event.
As im retired now, i could follow many games, in the last 2-3 weeks.
Also thanks towards all the developers for participating with their programs.

Bert

I mean, then the engine has less time to think about the rest of the movements. If you calculate all the movements the engines needs to make immediately, it would save about 2-3 minutes. And that's a lot.

However, retirement is good for writing good draughts engines. :D :D :D

On page https://toernooibase.kndb.nl/ Eric van Dusseldorp is writing :
Het toernooi wordt toch beslist door: aantal punten en daarna SB?
Dus het aantal overwinninge speelt geen rol (lijkt me ook onzin in een toernooi voor computerprogramma's).
Dus de stand na 32 rondes op Toernooibase klopt niet helemaal.
Overigens wekken de regels van het toernooi op de official site de indruk dat het alleen om SB gaat, niet om het aantal punten.

Please see the tournament rules.

The tournament rules are clear:

System gry
  • Turniej będzie rozgrywany systemem „każdy z każdym” na dystansie trzydziestu czterech rund
  • o miejscu programu w turnieju decyduje wynik Sonneborn - Berger
  • czas gry - 15 minut + 10 sekund na 75 ruchów
  • wszystkie programy ustawione na 15 minut na 75 ruchów, dodano dodatkowe 10 sekund na wykonywanie ruchów na tablicy DGT
  • punktacja turniejowa - za wygranie 2 punktów, za remis 1 punkt, za porażkę 0 punktów
  • wstrzymanie programu w turnieju otrzymuje 0 punktów
  • codziennie będą rozgrywane 2 rundy
  • w turnieju będzie jeden dzień wolny od gier
This gives the following order:

pl Name We wi Re Ve Pt SB
1 Damage (Bert Tuyt) 34 20 14 0 54 1589

4 Scan (Fabien Letouzey) 34 16 18 0 50 1437
5 Ares (Joost Buijs) 34 16 18 0 50 1433
6 Dragon (Michel Grimminck) 34 17 16 1 50 1398
