Late Abdoulie Saine Draughts Championship today

The sixth edition of the late Abdoulie Saine Memorial Trophy Draughts Championship competition will kick off today, 24 February, at the Dobson Street Draughts Vous in Banjul.
The annual championship will commence with prayers to be followed by a welcoming statement by the president of the Gambia National Draughts Federation, which will mark the beginning of the first round.
Saturday 25 February 2012 will mark the beginning of the second round, then the third round, which is the knockout phase and that will be followed by the quarterfinal games.
Sunday 26 February 2012 will witness the semifinal games, then the grand final, which will be followed by the distribution of certificates and cash prizes to the winners before the closing ceremony.
The annual Abdoulie Saine Memorial Draughts Trophy championship is expected to be sponsored by the Mansajang Solicitors and the Saine Family.

Gambia: Modou Jagne Wins Late Modou Faal Draughts Championship

Modou Jagne of Sabiji vous on Sunday 24 November 2013 emerged as the winner of the second edition of the Late Modou Faal Memorial Draughts Championship held at the Saint Joseph's Senior Secondary School Hall in Banjul.

Mr Jagne received a certificate and cash prize of D7,000 as the champion and Sheikh Njie of Dobson Street vous in Banjul took 2nd position and received a certificate and a cash of D5,000 as the runners-up.

Sulayman Marr of Post Office vous received a certificate and cash prize of D3,000 as the 3rd-place holder, while Momodou Lemon of London Corner vous received D2,000 as the fourth-place holder.

A consolation cash prize of D3,000 was given to four participants for their participation in the second edition of the Late Modou Faal Draughts Championship.

The championship was graced by Alhagie O.B. Conateh, the late Modou Faal family members, the Gambia National Draughts Federation (GNDF) executives and the print and electronic media.

Hosted by Campama vous in Banjul, the late Modou Faal Memorial Draughts Championship was organised by the GNDF and sponsored by the Faal family.

Gambia: Sheikh Njie Wins Eigth Edition Abdoulie Saine Memorial Draughts Competition

Sheikh Njie of Dobson Vous was on 30 March 2014 has been crowned champion of the 8th edition of the Abdoulie Saine Memorial Draughts competition hosted by Dobson Draughts Vous/Club at the Methodist Hall, Dobson Street in Banjul.

He was awarded a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of D3,000 as winner of the tournament.

Omar Jagne of July 22nd Vous took second position and was awarded a cash prize of D2,000 and a certificate.

Modou Jagne of Sabiji Vous took third position with a cash award of D1,000 and a certificate.

Tumani Sanyang of O. J. Junction finished fourth position and received a cash prize of D800.

A consolation cash prize of D2,200 was as well given to four other participants.

The tournament featured 32 participants with the first round played on Friday 28 March 2014.

The second round and knockout stages were played on Saturday 29 March 2014.

The quarterfinals, semifinals, third place and finals were played on 30 March 2014 to mark the end of the 8th edition of the Abdoulie Saine Memorial Tournament.
