Draughts included in Mindsports event
KARACHI, June 23: A draughts event has been included in the second edition of the Pakistan Mind Sports Championship, to be held here in October, the Mindsports Associations of Pakistan (MSAP) announced on Thursday.
Draughts, previously called drafts, has been globally included as one of the mindsports and will be making its debut as part of Pakistan Mindsports this year.
“After the MSAP was registered under company ordinance and got full-fledged recognition, we have decided to re-launch the Mindsports,” MSAP Director Tariq Rasheed Khan told reporters. “Now this is a nationally recognised body and would be working for the promotion and development
of mindsports around the country.
He added that the association had started the paperwork and planning to stage the prestigious event in a befitting fashion.
MSAP director said their main mission and objective was to promote and patronize rising talent in bridge, chess, draughts and scrabble and take them at international platform.
Pakistan’s recent victory in the 16th Bridge Federation of Asian & Middle East (BFAME) over arch-rival India has greatly boosted the game and would be attracted by large number of players from across the country.
“Besides the event the MSAP will also be launching programme in four provinces to unearth talent and groom them under qualified coaches,” he maintained.—APP
