Interesting

Post by Nicolas.Guibert » Wed Nov 13, 2002 17:35

Interesting system with probably a better and more thrilling show than in usual tournaments...

But still many many draws...

And very very few surprises...

No doubts - draws should be a separated topic ( if not forum ).
And probably hottest.

And about surprises. Tournament is still going on...

In my opinion one of the main argument FOR EC formula is much bigger representation of strong draughts countries. We also have minimum place for one federation.
For future, in my opinion, we had to find new solution for last game in barrages (may be like in 64 instead of 5/3 ?!) and we need better conditions for losers. There was some complications for players which after losing his match in the evening, had to go out next day morning.

But EDC is OUR organisation so lets look what is the best for US.

What in 64 ?

Post by Nicolas Guibert » Fri Nov 15, 2002 10:55

What is the system used in 64 for the last game of the matches ?

I was not in Domburg but I am pretty sure that 5+5 and 3+5 in the last game gives a big advantage for the side who is looking for the draw... This seems to be copied to what was played in Chess, but the balance between time and result was not found I believe.

"64" formula

Post by J.Pawlicki » Fri Nov 15, 2002 11:26

The idea for LAST barrage game:
limited time for unlimited games (till 1st victory).

So in our (100) game we can start with 15 minutes per player and let they play ! AFter maximum 30 minutes we have a winner !

Biggers adventure: both players has the same situation !

Very interesting idea

Post by Nicolas Guibert » Fri Nov 15, 2002 11:35

Very interesting system indeed. I like it.

Maybe in order to avoid stupid situations, the same system with a one second per move increment ?

Anyway that sounds to me already better than anything else.

Round Robin

Round Robin is the best system which the winner is usually the best of competitors.

But I approve the Soccer World Cup System too. First round with four teams with Two first qualified for next round with direct élimination.
It is a simple system.

In Case of draws we can't apply penalty system of course. So we can apply barrages of 5 minutes + 2 seconds.

I just want to ask how it was possible that A.Sholma played in Domburg? But not a first reserve V.Bedinovs from Latvia as it could be.Maybe Mr.Pawlicky can answer to this question ?

gmi Auke Scholma in Domburg

Post by Jacek Pawlicki » Mon Jan 20, 2003 08:19

Mr. Scholma played in Domburg because Mr. Kolesnik didn't come. I know that Mr.Bedinovs on that moment was 1st reserve from Riga (<i>originally after competition he was reserve number 9</i>) but it is really difficult to say who comes. Even Latvian federation asked me just few days before EC is it possible to have a place in tournament for Mr.Bedinovs ? My answer was very easy - <i>I have no informations about any resignations</i>. <br>
It is our standard problem - inscriptions & participations ! We work on that but it is loooooong way.
with best regards for Mr. XXX <br>(J.Pawlicki EDC president)
