Rules of International Draughts

Post by davita » Fri Apr 21, 2006 01:12

Hi Group,

My 10 x 10 board was obtained from Holland and we tried it for the
first time today.
A rule states "The game is a draw if neither of the players can take all of the opponents pieces (for example 3 kings against 1)
Come on unless I've not understood the rules it's easy to take 1 king with 3 by forcing it to take one of the 3 and being taken itself in return.
Please let me know what I am not understanding here.
We play again Sunday. HELP

Best wishes

Dave

When 1 king defends himself precisely it's impossible for three to catch him. With four you can.
Nevertheless it's worth trying to catch the one with your three, because even pretty good players made mistakes when being the defending party.

According to the rules the one with three kings has the right to try 16 moves (mutual) to beat his opponent. After these 16 moves (32 ply) the draw can be claimed by the minority player.
