I have reconstructed Scandinavian checkers, because Murray and Parton have given the wrong rules. It turns out that it is a very fine checkers variant, which is related to Frisian draughts. Please read about it here:

I came upon the book source from 1802. It turns out that I was right about orthogonal capture. But there is yet another difference: the Dame can slide orthogonally, too (but only on dark squares). I have rewritten the article and the program:
