Permissively licensed engines

Post by Grashopa » Sat Nov 20, 2010 07:10

Hey guys, I'm creating games for a series of educational applications I'm writing and was wondering what if any engines are licensed such that I could include them in my application which I'm selling.

I've already written standard and Turkish checkers, but having only put a day into this the computer doesn't play that well. This is a very small part of the overall applications so I won't be putting the time into any other variants unless I can find code or engines to use.

Hi Mark,

There are a number of engines that run in Martin Fierz's Checkerboard user interface, and AFAIK they are all free and have no restrictive licensing agreements. You would of course have to check with the authors before distributing their work. These include versions of kingsrow for English and Italian checkers, Cake, BikMove, GUI Checkers, Simple checkers, Dama, Saltare, and KestoG. See the Checkerboard web site. http://www.fierz.ch/checkers.htm
