Before the tournament - The Unofficial World Championships Of Computer Programs

Post by Krzysztof Grzelak » Tue Feb 09, 2021 12:44

Feel free to familiarize yourself with this year's tournament " The Unofficial World Championships Of Computer Programs In International Draughts Rapid 2021" https://www.uwccpi2021.draughtsprograms.eu/. Several new programs have come to the tournament . I will complete the "Live" tab later. Individual versions of the programs are subject to change. As for the GDW program so I set it temporarily. The author of the program promised to make it available, but unfortunately he does not answer my emails. Greetings for Gijsbert Wiesenekker. If there are any questions or suggestions for the tournament - please ask - I will answer them.

A new tab has been created " Live Tournament Games " in the tab " Live ". It will be possible to watch live on the site https://www.youtube.com/. One important note from watching the tournament live via the channel https://www.youtube.com/ - some programs have no sound during game play. Please remember that.

In the tournament, I can participate in draughts programs with NNUE. There is no problem whatsoever.

Hello Mr. Krzysztof Grzelak

I would like to ask you a few questions about your tournament between programs, a tournament that I’ve been enjoying for a while.

About Aurora Borealis: I noticed that it uses an older version which is version 3.6.11, however the program is already in version 3.8.8beta8, I know that it is still unstable and in test, but even the engine of version 3.7. 5 is stronger than version 3.6.11.

Flits 3.02 does not have an adequate book of openings: I recently adapted the version 1.05 book to it and I can make it available here if you want.

I saw the list of programs in the https://www.uwccpi2021.draughtsprograms ... ation.html tab and noticed that some known programs will not participate in the tournament, such as: Argus 1.0, Horizon 4.6 and Windames 7.0. Do developer support required? If authorization is not required, I have all of them and can make them available to Mr.

Regards...

As for Aurora 3.6.10 - I use it because it has the least bugs. I am using Flits 3.1 with Turbodambase. Argus 1.0 - author Joost Buijs. Another program will be in the tournament. Program Horizon 4.6 does not work with the processor AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X. Windames 7.0 - unknown program to me.

Windames, developed by Jean-Bernard Alemanni. I believe it is stronger than Cerberus, Tornado, Pluss 500, TD King, GWD and Dream.

The Windames program will not participate in the tournament. There is a serious problem with setting the tournament time.

About Windames, I understand. Thanks for the clarification.

Who knows, until the date of the event Alexander Svirin does not offer a more stable and stronger version? I hope so.

Congratulations on your work, Mr Krzysztof Grzelak !!!

If Alexander Svirin releases a new and better version he will change it - no problem.

Hi Krzysztof Grzelak,

I guess your proposed program settings for DREAM and Cerberus are not optimal.

DREAM:
Ponder: It can be enabled in the menu option: "Configuration - Configuration du moteur - Réflexion sus temps adverse"
Hash table size: It could be changed at least to 8192 KB to be more equalized with other programs.

Cerberus:
Opening book: It is supported, Mr. Leo Nagels kindly shared it with me 4 years ago :)
Endgame database: (a.k.a.: tablebase): 6 figures endgame database is supported. Cerberus has a built-in endgame database generator.

Regards,
Igor

As for the Dream program:

Hash table size - I will not agree with you here. The maximum parmateter is 4000. There can't be more. Even if you enter 8192 K, it won't do anything. After restarting the program is 4000. As for the options - Réflexion sus temps adverse - forgot to add on the site. Thank you for the information Igor.

As for the Cerberus program:

I wrote to Mr. Leo Nagels many times about the debut book and about the base of 6 figure endings. Unfortunately, Mr. Leo Nagels never gave me access to the databases or the debut book. If you have it, please share the opening book. As for the databases, I tried to generate them several times - unfortunately, there are always errors when generating them. I tried on Windows 7 and on Windows 10.

I wrote an email to the author of Dream asking about " Hash table size ". I don't only know whether he will answer.
