A quite uncertain position

Post by TAILLE » Thu Aug 02, 2018 16:14

Hi,

The following position appears during last Nijmegen Open at the 7th round

Antony Alavoine - Arnoud de Greef
Position after 34.48x37

Black to play

Previously in the game Black got a winning position but after a weak black move white reached the following position with some compensations for the man down.
My question is the following: is the position still a winning one for black?

My first searchs with Damy told me that the position may be a drawing position but I am not sure at all!
Can you help me?
Gérard

Since this is regular draughts, and it's an 8 vs 7 position, it's a draw :) No seriously, how is black going to win? Kingsrow sees +68 after 5 minutes thinking, so it's never going to win.

It sounds for me as a confirmation it is a draw.
Can you tell me if the score done by Kingsrow is decreasing with the time?
+68 is still a substantial advantage isn't it?

I will let it run overnight. But +68 is less than 1 piece, and in endgames, it's drawish (in the opening / early middle game, it's pretty good of course). Usually when Kingsrow is having trouble proving a win, the score is around +200-300.
