Re: Book debuts
Using an opening book should be a small improvement over not using it. It allows a program to make a few moves without using time on its clock. If you want each program to be configured to its maximum strength then it should probably be configured to use its opening book.Krzysztof Grzelak wrote:I have a question. In a sense, what you write is a lot of truth. But what happens, as one book deceive another book and the program loses. And as the program thought from the beginning that this situation can not occur.Ed Gilbert wrote:Using an opening book should be a small improvement over not using it. Re: Book debuts
There is no deception in draughts, only good moves or bad moves. If a program loses, it is because it made a bad move. If the bad move is in the opening book, then that is the responsibility of the draughts program author. The opening book is an integral component of the draughts program, as is the search, the eval, the endgame database, the clock management, etc. All these components contribute to the strength or weakness of the program.Krzysztof Grzelak wrote:But what happens, as one book deceive another book and the program loses.
