For all historical interested in the game of draughts, and especially in the style of Checkers,
IM Liam Stephens of Ireand and Jay Hinnershitz, USA, have established a website exclusively devoted to the history of Checkers:
http://www.online-museum-of-checkers-history.com/
Results, timelines, historical excavations, pictures, anectodes, even whole books are on that very rich site.
A fun read, but also a very welcomed contribution for any checker/draughts historician.

Re: Online Museum Of Checkers History
This type of Museum is more than an art museum. Originally built as a castle in the far west of the city, the city grew around the Louvre in modern times. While Philip Augustus was in power in France 11-80, 1223, Paris was the largest city in Europe. The Louvre was built to protect the border of the city, along the Seine. During the reign of Louis XIV, the fortress was enlarged during the reign of Henry II and his son, plans were made to extend the strength of the Tuileries Palace, 500 meters west of the Louvre. For this reason, currently the Great Hall was built. While Louis XIII and Louis XIV in power, the fortress was expanded even more, but following the construction of Versailles, the Louvre in Paris has temporarily forgotten.
