Hello Jacques,
Halve finale means semi-final.
'Algemeen' means general and 'vrouwen' is women.
They say general because the recent years also women succeed in qualifying for this semi-final. This year Tanja Chub from Hoorn still has a good chance to become the first woman ever in the finals.
In the semi-final it's possible to qualify for the finals of the Dutch championship.
Numbers 1 and 2 of all 4 groups qualify.
Six people join them, Champion of the Netherlands Kees Thijssen, number two Ron Heusdens, number three Gérard Jansen, number four Erno Prosman and two introducées, Rob Clerc and Alexander Baliakin.
Final this year is in Huissen around Easter.
Semi-final is played in the weekends. Schedule etc. you can find on website KNDB.

No Jacques,
Baliakin still has the White-Russian nationality, but according to the rules from the Dutch Draughts Organisation everybody who lives longer than one year in The Netherlands can join the Dutch championship.

Thanks Hanco,

We have an almost similar rule in France (3 or 5 years - I don't remember exactly)

What about K. THISSEN - A. BALYAKIN for the dutch title ?

A dream contest !!!

Baliakin has no chance against Kees.
Only danger for Kees will come from Ron Heusdens.

RON HEUSDENS seems to be strong player and cunning player according to ARNAUD CORDIER.
But I prefer GERARD JANSSEN. But What a pity last year when he lost from AUKE SCHOLMA and ROB CLERC during last dutch championship. Else he would have been 2003 Dutch champion.

Who is Cor van Dusseldorp is a question that maybe even Cor himself cannot answer Jacques.
You know the riddle from Zen master Foyan:
Search back into your own vision.
Think back to the mind that thinks. Who is it?

Cor van Dusseldorp most probably is not family from Eric.
The name Dusseldorp is Dutch for Düsseldorf, the German city. Likely some ancestor of Eric and Cor was from Düsseldorf.
Cor is living in Rijnsburg, a small village near Leiden, and qualified for the finals in 2002 and 2003. Cor is around 30 years old.
Cor van Dusseldorp with 4 titles has been more often Student Champion of The Netherlands than anyone else. See: http://fmjd.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=479

Hello Jacques,
Tanja Chub from Hoorn is the first woman ever who qualified for the final of the Dutch draughtschampionship, an outstanding result!! Congratulations to Tanja and her husband Jacco!
As I told you before, also Alexander Baliakin will make his début. Alexander will be the first non-Dutchman in the Dutch final after Paul Germain from Haïti, who qualified in 1975.
And Niek Kuijvenhoven from Nijkerk, the Dutch Junior Champion will make his first appearance too. Niek couldn't play the Worldchampionship for Juniors in Trieste in 2003 because his religion doesn't allow to play on Sundays. His substitute Boudewijn Derckx became Worldchampion in Italy.

Qualified are now Kees Thijssen, Ron Heusdens, Gérard Jansen, Erno Prosman, Rob Clerc, Alexander Baliakin, Hein Meijer, Gerrit Boom, Marino Barkel, Tanja Chub, Niek Kuijvenhoven and Hans Jansen.
Tomorrow there will be two barrages for the left two places.
The first barrage is between Auke Scholma and Bas Messemaker. The other between Jeroen van den Akker and Laurens Fijn van Draat.
