This is the info you get on a sundaymorning one week before departure:

Dear all

I am deeply sorry to have to inform you that the Burkina government has
decided not to honour its promises and guarantees for the match. The match
Africa-Europe is cancelled.
From our point as FMJD we will lodge a vehement protest and try to reclaim
for the Burkina government the visa costs you have made. We have no
guarantee that we will get those back, but we will definitely try. Please
e-mail me the costs you have made.
I am deeply, deeply sorry that this has gone bad, but you can be sure that
from our side we did everything possible to save the match. But to no avail.

Sincerely

Walter van Beek

Walter van Beek?! Is he a brother of Wouter van Beek (FMJD)?!

Looks like a fake e-mail to me...

No, I know nothing about that.
Maybe Wouter (or Walther as he calls himself outside Holland) knows more about it?

In international correspondance van Beek always sign Walter, in Dutch - Wouter.

By the way the cancellation of the match looks a lot more realistic than it's organization.

I hope that the FMJD will turn it as it has to be - first compensate costs to players and than put protest and try to get it from the governement of Burkina Faco ( clearly understanding that it will never succeed).

There are few other questions remained.
And first of all how serious is the
"World Team Championship (4 pl) Dakar Senegal 05-11-2004 27-11-2004 "
in the calender of the FMJD?
If this tournament will be cancelled as well - the countries who are planning to go there will lose thousands euros. Is it not good idea to get already some guaranty from Senegal's governement right now?

Guaranties are worthless because I phoned Walter a week or two ago and he also had guaranties from the goverment of Burkina Faso. It's not only the financial damage. I sacrificed two holidays to get my visa and my vaccines. Laurent Nicault had to take some exams in July and had to postpone them. I hope nobody has bought their tickets to Brussels yet...

When I said guaranties I ment a serious deposit.

But the Financial Reglement of the FMJD says
Article V: Guarantee fund
Every representative of a national federation that wishes to organise a competition under the auspices of the FMJD must deposit a Guarantee Fund of ˆ. 250 with a letter of confirmation and final commitment within 3months their application. This sum remains the property of the FMJD, even if the competition, for whatever reason, does not take place. If the competition has taken place as planned, then the fund will be credited to the organisation fee.
If the competition does not take place then that federation must repay the FMJD for any expenses incurred by the FMJD up to a maximum of ˆ. 250.

That's the level.

costs and responsability - next G.A. in A'dam

Post by LexEtIus » Tue Oct 11, 2005 22:04

Dear All,

in the next G.A. I think is time to speak about the 2 times deleted Match Europa - Africa, in Burkina Faso, and about the expenses, money spent of european players for this match:
booked fly, train for arrive in Paris (meeting point for european players), vaccinations costs, visa costs, others.

Not doubt that there is a liability/responsibility of Burkina Federation, but also of FMJD and EDC. The second time, the match was deleted 6 days before the departure from Paris!! after grants that the match will be sure disputed.

Is not correct that players have payed for this, they are damaged, and , Organizing Federation in first side, but also FMJD and EDC have to refund this damage.

I think that FMJD and EDC have to cover directly the money of european players and to do action with Burkina federations for to be refunded.
it's surprising: 1. in the attached documents that no debts are in the charge of Burkina Federation, 2. no a fund money for european players, 3. Burkina Fed. have a place in WCS 2005.

Is a rule FMJD that federation not pay fee and players don't play tournament, world ch., etc, and what if federation deleted tournament in the last minute with damage for players??

So I ask that G.A. take a decision for this problem, with satisfaction of the reasons of european players and refunded the money.

Thanks for the attention.
Best regards.

M.I. Raoul Bubbi
