14-20 ?

Post by Jacques PERMAL » Tue Jul 15, 2003 23:07

I have scrutinized the game between Schwarzman and Stolarov. I think that Stolarov could have drawn if he had played 14-20 in 54th move.
Am I right, Alexander ?

Draw

Post by Hanco Elenbaas » Wed Jul 16, 2003 14:04

Indeed Jacques, it is a draw after 54...14-20!
For this kind of positions it's best to use the
World Champion Computerprogram Dam 2.2
from Harm Jetten. It's free downloadable and
available in 8 languages, among which French!
http://www.xs4all.nl/~hjetten/damnl.html
Very nice to analyze with, you can learn a lot!

at the finale position, is not Draw? :
42-47; 10-15 , 22-33; 15x38, 47x24; 40-35, 24-42 and now:
- if 35-30, 42-15; 36-31, 15-4 and 4-13 (or 19) Draw
- if 34-30 Black take the diagonal 15-47 and Draw

Is not it?

Platonova

Post by Hanco Elenbaas » Thu Jul 17, 2003 23:33

Irina Platonova from Yakutia, who became Worldchampion Girls
two weeks ago, is the new Women Champion from Russia.
http://www.fmsr.ru/tournaments/cr03res.htm
Platonova scored 12 out of 9 games, one point more than
World Champion Tamara Tansikkoetsjina.
Alexandra Boernasjeva from Yakoetsk finished 3rd with 10 points.

In the Russian Men championship Schwarzman after eleven rounds
is leading with 15 points, one more than Tsjizjov, two more than
Getmanski.
In the next rounds Schwarzman meets Kolesov(11) and Kostionov(8 ).
Tsjizjov has to play Pavlov(9) and Simonov(9)

Michele Borghetti :
It looks like white player exceeded time limit.
But looking this game one will understand that it was difficult to NOT exceed the time.

Look also Stoliarov - Georgiev. Completely different and still to enjoy. Till the last move.

It was a remarkable championship.
Not only because 16-year old Yakutian girl became Russian champion scoring beyond reigning World Champion T. Tansykkuzhina.
But also very low percentage of winning games ( just 26,6 %, was it ever in women's tournaments?) is surprising. M. Borkova played draw all her games. O.Abdulina with only -2 score occupied last (!) place.
And 3 point more was enaugh for unshared third place.

Michele Borghetti :

This is nonsense. White easily wins back the diagonal 15-47.

But after 47...42-47 48.10-15 Black plays 22-18! and
the white king has to go back to 10.
It looks like winning 5 against 2, because black cannot prevent
that all white pieces will become Kings.
I suggest you also to download (for free) Dam 2.2. from
Harm Jetten, there's an Italian version available.
Computerprograms these days are better in analysing
the finishing part of a Draughtsgame than any Grandmaster!

By the way, I think Pavlov missed a draw in the exciting game
against Schwarzman. He should have played 40...11-16! and
41...16-21 and I don't see how white can win.
Maybe Schwarzman should have played 35.40-34 instead of
35.39-33.

These girls are getting stronger and stronger!
I hope one day we'll have girls as strong as Judith Polgar.
It would be a good development.

Look to the miraculous game Simonov - Georgiev.
Even the haviest "tijdnot" is not enaugh to explain what has happened there.
44.33-29 with threat 38-32 would immediately end this thriller.
The only reason is that around the birthday the boirhitms are mostly bad.
And Simonv had the birthday when this game has been played. And Georgiev on the next day.

Who will be champion ?

Post by Jacques PERMAL » Fri Jul 18, 2003 11:59

Irina PLatonova realized her grand slam. Perhaps she is our next "J. Polgar". Hanco hope that.

I wish Schwarzy were the new champion. He deserves that.

I also pay attention to Stolarow games. I think he has got a lot of potentials.

As I am concerned, I won't be a GMI like these grandmasters. But if married a russian woman player, our children could become GMI !!!

So what are you going to do in Shanghai?
While you could have been in Russia.
Tansikkytsjina maybe also can become a Polgar.
It's good she has a new young competitor!
