I think not so much this defeat by itself. It's just his lately not very convincing play together with particular difficulties of the Swiss championship.Jacques PERMAL wrote: TON TILLEMANS decided to withdraw after (pehaps ?) disappointment of defeat against GMI HANS VERMIN.
In Switzerland the championship takes place in Geneva that is very convenient for players who live close by. However Geneva is the most remote corner of Switzerland and it is not easy for anybody else to participate (it's much easier for French players to play there than Swiss), especially as the reglament is not accomodating for remote players. So both Vermin and Tilleman have to play simultaenous games if they wish to participate (or spend many days travelling to Geneva). I cannot really blame Ton for deciding that it is a bit too much to demand from him.
