Re: Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs In International Draughts 2022

Hi Krzysztof,

What does the column "No O.(W)" in the cross-table represents? And what happened to "SB" (Sonneborn Berger)?

Re: Unsolvable position by Andreas Kuyken

Not easy impossible-kuyken-v2.jpg Using 32 threads (with futility pruning disabled) Ares finds (after 280 seconds) the continuation: 25-20 14x25 50-44 My guess is that when the search is optimized for these type of positions the solution could be found much quicker, the drawback is that it will hur...

Re: Unsolvable position

Solving problems needs a totally different approach, you'll see the same with chess, perfect mate solvers unable to play a strong game, and vice versa. When I disable futility pruning in Ares, it finds the solution in a fraction of a second at 17 ply, but without pruning it starts to play weaker in...

Re: Unsolvable position

Hi Joost, look carefully, i activated 5 pieces endgame database to show that he use endgame and at the same time disabled it if you look again, you will see "Any" selected. This engine, i will be honest the first time that i earned about it, i was no so convinced of his supposed strenght. But after...

Re: Unsolvable position

Thanks for your answers, There's a program that curiously find the absolute win even with endgame database. I will send a video. Friendly, Sidiki Hi Sidiki, I've been looking at the video, the program uses 5P EGDB and only finds the win of 1 disc and not the absolute win. I thought you meant that i...

Re: Unsolvable position

Hi Sidiki, I haven't analyzed it, but it could be that the solution leads to a won EGDB position with equal material, and that finding the solution without EGDB needs a very deep search, too deep for an engine (even on very big hardware). Futility pruning and LMR (late move reduction) can also have ...

Re: NNUE

Hi Sidiki, Yes, with reinforcement learning is is possible to have the engine play via DXP against other engines and to let it learn from these games. With supervised learning you can use a database of games played by other engines, but you need games with enough decisive outcomes, only draws won't ...

Re: NNUE

Hi Sidiki, With supervised learning it depends upon the style of the program that was used to generate the training data. For Draughts there is no publicly available training data, so most people generate training data with the same program that they use for playing games. When the search of this pr...

Re: NNUE

Yes, i think that, as in chess world that already got a very respectable level with learning. If the programers on this forum, very smarts put together they ideas, certainly, things will grow up quickly. Joost, Fabien, Ed, Michel, Jaap and the others, please can you try the implementation of this p...

Re: Hard disk performance

Hi Joost, in fact you are right I have Slot M.2 and it is written 3x M.2 32 Gb/s (PCIe 3.0 x4). Now I wonder what to do, give back or leave it. As for the draughts disc - these are Russian and international draughts. Therefore, the place is already running out. Hi Krzysztof, I don't know what you me...

Re: Hard disk performance

Hi Joost, Thank you so much Joost for the answer. As it reads, my motherboard supports PCI x4. I don't know if it's a good idea but I want to install two M.2 disks. One for draughts, the other for chess. At the moment, I have already bought a disk Western Digital Black SN850 and heat sink Be quiet ...
