Re: International draughts tournament 2024
"There is always a chance that a collision occurs, but with a good 64-bit hash function like Zobrist, this chance is so small that it will never affect the outcome of the search. To detect collisions, Ares has the option to store (besides the regular key and data) the whole position in a hash entry....

Re: International draughts tournament 2024
Hi Krzysztof, Thank you for organizing this event! Tournaments like this are always nice to check how experimental stuff works out. Very early this morning I found the worst bug ever in Ares. Ares uses an internal representation with 'ghost squares', these squares run from 0 to 53, unlike most other...

Happy New Year to you and your family too!
As for the unfinished projects of 2023, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Re: Tournament survey " The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs In International Draughts 2023 "
Now there seem to be five. It is a pity that there is no activity at all on this forum. I know it's hard to improve on the level of the best Draughts programs, but there are a lot of things that can still be tried. Despite Draughts being a very draw-like game, I can't believe there aren't improvemen...

Re: Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs In International Draughts 2023
Hi Krzysztof, at your site you mention "the place of the program in the tournament is determined by the greatest number of points scored in the tournament and Sonneborn - Berger". Based on this, you should only use Total score and 2. Sonneborn-Berger, and omit Number of wins. And what to do (to be ...

Re: Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs In International Draughts 2023
Hi Krzysztof, What do you mean with 'it's about second, third and seventh place'? Is there an error somewhere? If you can send me the games by mail it will be fine, I want to add them to my game collection. TIA Joost Hi Joost, see here https://www.uwccpi2023.draughtsprograms.eu/cross_table_acc_plac...

Re: Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs In International Draughts 2023
Hi Joost, it's about second and third place and seventh place. Is this the way it is supposed to be and leave it that way or has there been an error (through no fault of my own). The tournament games are ready. I will send it by e-mail. Krzysztof Hi Krzysztof, What do you mean with 'it's about seco...

Hi Krzysztof,
Thank you for organizing and running this tournament!
Congratulations to Ed for ending on top with Kingsrow.
Is it possible to download all games of this tournament somewhere? (the download links on your website don't seem to do anything)
Joost

Re: AUGUST 2023 SUPER BLITZ TOURNAMENT
Hi Sidiki, Thank you for organizing these tournaments! There must be a lot of work involved in playing many of these games by hand. Because the neural-net of Ares is rather slow compared to patterns I didn't expect it to get a good score with 1 minute games. To my surprise it did better than expecte...

Re: Engine test
Hi Krzysztof, Thank you for playing these matches! It's always interesting to watch the games unfold. You can download the slightly improved version Ares v1.6-beta. This is as far as it goes, I decided to stop working on the old version, this will really be the last one. I will continue working on v...

Re: 1rst INTERNATIONAL DRAUGHTS ENGINES TOURNAMENT
Hi Sidiki, Some things are still not clear to me, did you use two computers for the tournament or just one? And what are the number of threads the engine were using? And were they using pondering or not? If you were running this tournament on just 1 computer you should have disabled pondering for al...

Re: 1rst INTERNATIONAL DRAUGHTS ENGINES TOURNAMENT
Hi Sidiki, Thanks for organizing and running this tournament! I can only imagine the quantity of work involved to run most of the games by hand. Tournaments like these (double round robin) give a good impression about the playing strength of each engine, of course there always is some luck involved....

Re: 1rst INTERNATIONAL DRAUGHTS ENGINES TOURNAMENT
It wouldn't be a problem to make a page like this up to a certain point. The problem would be what application to manage the entire tournament during the game of engines. You need to write something like Ed while playing with the HUB.Here many people (programmers) would have to help with this. All ...
