Re: All engines: DXP configuration
By the way, many programs return "0000" as time in the MOVE message, as it was only meant for informational purposes. It is not essential for playing games. I think the server would like to know how much time the engine spent for calculating the move, when you let the server handle this by it's own...

Re: All engines: DXP configuration
The idea of DamExchange is that every program runs on its own computer. Windows, Linux, mainframe or whatever. Connection with the tournament server is made only once for the entire tournament. The tournament server, as DamExchange Initiator, runs all the games. Exactly, this is the way it should b...

Re: All engines: DXP configuration
Running all programs from the same computer with HUB as protocol does not seem like a good idea. When a program wants to use all available threads pondering wont be possible, and often programs get in each other's way by grabbing resources the others also want to use. I've seen on several occasions ...

Re: The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs 2024
Then it will still have the errors in it. Now I understand that you typed in all moves by hand and that the moves shown in the applet are not saved to disk at all. Well, than it can only be solved by copying and pasting the moves from the applets to a .txt file, which is for 240 games a lot of work...

Re: The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs 2024
Hi Krzysztof, Do you have all the games from the applet in .txt format? if you do please mail them to me than I can convert all the games to PDN format. It is too much work to check all the games in the PDN by comparing them manually with the moves shown in the applet. Joost I only have it in pdn f...

Re: The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs 2024
Hi Krzysztof, There are some errors in the PDN file with games from the tournament. For instance in the game Ares - Flits is the 57th move 8-3 and not 8-30. I don't know if this is the only error, but it could be that there is something wrong with the conversion from games in the applet to PDN. Joost

Re: The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs 2024
Krzysztof, Thank you for organizing this tournament, it was very exiting to watch the games unfold. You deserve a vacation after doing all this hard work. My feeling is that most programs are in the same league and that you need a bit of luck to end on top in tournaments like this. This time Ares is...

Re: The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs 2024
That's how I've been wondering lately how much interest there is in this tournament. Because you told me six months ago that there would be no tournament this year, I haven't done anything to the new version of the program. The version from the last two tournaments wasn't great; it had (too) many b...

Re: International draughts tournament 2024
"There is always a chance that a collision occurs, but with a good 64-bit hash function like Zobrist, this chance is so small that it will never affect the outcome of the search. To detect collisions, Ares has the option to store (besides the regular key and data) the whole position in a hash entry....

Re: International draughts tournament 2024
Hi Krzysztof, Thank you for organizing this event! Tournaments like this are always nice to check how experimental stuff works out. Very early this morning I found the worst bug ever in Ares. Ares uses an internal representation with 'ghost squares', these squares run from 0 to 53, unlike most other...

Re: Tournament survey " The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs In International Draughts 2023 "
Now there seem to be five. It is a pity that there is no activity at all on this forum. I know it's hard to improve on the level of the best Draughts programs, but there are a lot of things that can still be tried. Despite Draughts being a very draw-like game, I can't believe there aren't improvemen...
